OFP2 trailer - I think I just blew a hole in my desk.
Only HD can do it justice
Seriously. Hawt.
Hotter than thermite.
If that is gameplay then no amount of money is too much for that CPU, GFX and memory upgrade.

According to the forum announcement, it's rendered in game. That being said, why in the name of Christ don't they actually give us some game play then? What year does Codemasters think it is? 1998? No one gives a shit about scripted trailers.
EDIT: My god the official forums are full of retards. "IT LOOKS LIKE CALL OF DUTY SO IT SUCKS!" Wow, so they finally fix Flashpoint's shitty animations and blocky textures, and people scream it looks too much like an action game. Because of course, Flashpoint was never about its open ended gameplay. Right? Bunch of Fallo...ah hem...Flashpoint tards.

Hah, and I was about to say that games were still a good four years off looking like that in real time. I could count blades of grass on there and see better then Europhea building destruction from the artillery.

I'd say that the final product might look more like this:

Who cares? How can people still be so stupid as to think saying' wow a scripted trailer for a shooter is really exciting to watch' has any bearing whatever on the game's quality?
It tells us there are men with guns in the game. Sorry, I knew that already. It's worthless trying to make judgements without knowing how the game is played, what the controls are like, if they sacked the entire ARMA team, actual facts like that.
Not 'oh wow an explosion'. Remember HL2 trailers? Some people never learn, and actively sell THEMSELVES on games.
And remember Hawkeye, looking like the most successful FPS in years = bad. Because looking like ARMA would be way better, right?

Yeah, making only one game in a decade THAT SUCKED isn't relevant to a developer, I guess?Commander 598 wrote:I'm pretty sure you don't have to worry about the "ARMA team" here...
Anyway, what's up with the totally useless thread title? This thread has fuck-all replies, but plenty of views, because NOBODY KNOWS WHAT IT'S TALKING ABOUT until they look. Might as well call it 'oo shiny' or some equally useless bullshit. OH WOW SOME HYPE GUYS!

If you're in the mood for some horror, that's basically what they're screaming about. Their's a good number of fanatical morons who think BIS is the *only* company that SHOULD be allowed to even touch the name of OFP. I mean, why shouldn't they? They've been doing a great job with the series so far right?Stark wrote:And remember Hawkeye, looking like the most successful FPS in years = bad. It would've been nice if the actual game's name was included in the thread title, as opposed to some obscure acronym I'd have to Google search to figure out the meaning of.Stark wrote:

I'd just like to point out that ARMA was only SUPPOSED to be somewhat of a pitstop between OFP1 and OFP2 (Or Game2 as everyone called it after "the split" before they decided on ArmA 2) with minor graphical enhancements and mostly engine improvements for the mod community (cause that one turret only thing was fucking annoying, and having things like ricochets and penetration would be good to have, right), but then they mostly fucked it all up when they for some reason decided that they needed to bump the poly count by a factor of five thus leading to why a minor rendering bug lead to most of the game being unplayable because it rendered all the extra shit hidden under a bush that no one ever saw or gave a shit about in the first fucking place. To say nothing of the shitty animations and fucking up the control scheme I'd been using since the 0.21 OFP demo some friggin' how so they could add lean.
BUT, beyond that, ArmA seemed fine and that's only like two/three things so I don't really feel like failing a game over that small a number, despite how major the issues there were.

What? Have you been living under a rock for the past decade? OFP - Operation Flashpoint - The most realistic, open ended, and frustrating first person shooter ever created, just about everybody knows this.It would've been nice if the actual game's name was included in the thread title, as opposed to some obscure acronym I'd have to Google search to figure out the meaning of.
ARMA, an apologia. Amusing, considering it's reception. It's a fine game... if you ignore the systemic bugs, the terrible presentation, the boring gameplay, that kinda stuff. Imagine you're NOT someone who's been waiting for 'OFP2' for a decade.Commander 598 wrote:I'd just like to point out that ARMA was only SUPPOSED to be somewhat of a pitstop between OFP1 and OFP2 (Or Game2 as everyone called it after "the split" before they decided on ArmA 2) with minor graphical enhancements and mostly engine improvements for the mod community (cause that one turret only thing was fucking annoying, and having things like ricochets and penetration would be good to have, right), but then they mostly fucked it all up when they for some reason decided that they needed to bump the poly count by a factor of five thus leading to why a minor rendering bug lead to most of the game being unplayable because it rendered all the extra shit hidden under a bush that no one ever saw or gave a shit about in the first fucking place. Obviously not. Take off the fanboy goggles. I've been following up Hawkeye's posts, and it turns out OFP fanboys are FUCKING HILARIOUS.What? Have you been living under a rock for the past decade? I don't generally pay attention to PC games, so how the fuck would I know about some obscure acronym for yet another FPS game out of the billions of FPS titles in the market already?Commander 598 wrote: What? I gotta agree, no one cares about fancy cutscenes anymore to preview a game. It looks nice, but that's about it. It may also be that ArmA ruined my goodwill so badly over the flawed original that I have zero tolerance for either Codemaster's or BIS' next go if they flub it.
Like Legend of Galactic Heroes? Please contribute to http://gineipaedia.com/
It will be better than ArmA, it's not being made by BIS so it's pretty much guaranteed to. And by the way, ArmA has NEVER had all of it's rendering and AI bug's fixed as far as I recall, it still has ridiculous HDR issues (how many years has that been common in games now? ) and AI that sometimes for no reason basically decides to be omniscient, because they have cheating AI and try to script it to be "real AI". Would OFP2 taking hints from CoD4 be a bad thing? Well COD4 is doing pretty fucking well as far as I can see.
