And with that the hour has come. I depart for france this morning, i will return saturday. In between, assume the Chamarans are doing something preparatory like moving in on Newhome or assembling second fleets expeditionary supply train. At any rate i'll be unavailable for a week.

There still seems to be a good bit of unresolved diplomatic discussion to be done at the summit.

Indeed there do, however, it has been six days since the last post in the summit thread, and to the best of my knowledge, save for Thirdfane, everyone involved there has been on the board lately. :?

I am just waiting for PMs from people about any issues to bring up. Right now, I really don't have anything going, and have one trade offer out there. I am probably gonna start turn 2 just so people get moving.

I think everyone is just busy IRL, which isn't a problem. I know I just don't have the time to think about this, as I am trying to find a job. But my Job hunt is going ok, my parents aren't freaking out like I thought so I can probably afford to post a bit.

Do we have a planned time to start turn two? If not can we go ahead and announce one?

Yeah, I know Tan and Rogue have trade stuff to work out, and Dark and Darkevil are currently unable to post, and Third seems to be otherwise occupied as well, but Tan and I do have a battle waiting to happen. :?

I think our trade deal is worked out; it really doesn't require more detail than that.

Edit: In the rules, it says that C3 can increase a ship's sensor range, but it doesn't say by how far per point. Is there any clarification on that?

Our trade deal's pretty much worked out. If no one else is going to post in the Summit, then I'm just going to call the trade deals with the Syndicalists and Molochi fluff until further discussion.

Ok i'm back. Nothing seems to have happened in my absence. I was looking forward to reading exciting battles.

Oh and apparently sensor range is increased by an FTL standard hour for each point of c3, only counts for detecting ftl craft though. You're assumed to have at least an hour or more warning automatically if in your home systems due to early warning networks and stuff.

No idea if those are good rules but they're the ones we seem to have. Also am i the only person to see realspace drives as being a short changed addition/specialization? I think it should at least cancel out R in non R weight for calculating speed if not more than that.

If no one says otherwise, I'm starting my attacks tomorow. I'll be hitting the Chicago system.

Yes lets have the attacks. Commence turn 2. Raj can invade Chicago, Ohma and Tanassin can have their skirmish.

Also Raj did you have a plan as to how the Chamaran squadon would integrate with your attack plan for the Chicago system?

To remind
x5 chamaran cruisers
x1 sensor support cruiser
x1 interdiction support cruiser
x1 defence support cruiser

The Melconians are no attacking the Chicago system, starting with the Blackton because they don't have any C3I, so I can sneak up on them. If anyone has any questions about the attack, please ask them!

And Raj's operation curbstomp commences. The Chamaran task force will lurk on the Molochward side of the Chicago system in deep space to kill any survivors trying to get word out about Raj's activities at least for the time being. We've got sensors, we've got interdictors and we've got fast drives so it sounds like a good plan.(plus i doubt we'll be needed in any other capacity though we'll stay close enough to be called in) Is this acceptable to the Melconian admiralty?

Pretty much. I want no military survivors  The main contingency that I see my admiral calling you in for is if the Bears try and intervene before their turn your fleet would be thrown in to delay them.

So who's running the Chicago system powers? Whoever it is should keep in mind that contrary to Raj's apparent assumptions, they know his fleet is there, seeing how they're a five minute jump away, and inhabited systems get an hour's warning. :P

I'm inclined to think that mini nations might have smaller early warning networks. but then we've hamstringed them enough already. hey who wants first contact with a minination barely back into the starship age? I may as well run a few extra mininations with my atrocious amount of time.

edit: Yes and the fleet was seen arriving though if they're laying in wait in realspace out of system they're invisible to the hyper pinging geegaws used in early warning networks and stuff.

Well, all ships have a stealth rating of 1 and none of the faction I'm attacking's assets in system have any C3I at all. So therefore I'd be abe to sneak up on him right? (A system also has 1C3I for free as well, so does that mean it could detect all my ships? Some of them? The details of stealth have never really been too clear.)

Even if they can detect me, the plan remains the same. The enemy commander may be stupid enough to try and rescue his patrols or think he can defeat my force in system before the rest of my fleet can get there. Basically I don't want to fight neare the big planetary defense batteries, which are largely moot anyway as my huge amount of defense points and the enemy's lack of C3I makes their improved offensive abilities worthless.

Edit: Even if my fleet isn't hidden, they may think they are! The Melconians haven't had a war with a human group for many years. The battle is likely to be something of a learning expierience.

The details on how the stealth/sensor opposition works and leans in stealths favour with range wasnt covered unfortunately.
If you have any stealth rating at all the default early warning network doesnt see you. Not really sure about the extra in system C3, as it probably stacks it should extend the early warning network boundary an hour. The inner boundary is level 1 sensors so any ship with stealth 1 is partially visible(as with first contact between Melconians and Chamarans you need to exceed the stealth rating to outright unmask the skulker), they'd almost certainly have seen something odd when that many ships motored in close....might send someone to investigate. :D

any comments and objections welcome as i may not have thought this through fully.

edit: I just realized that while Raj's ships have stealth the Chamarans dont so the eight ships of the cruiser taskforce were certainly detected moving to their ready position outside the system.

Well what I'm basing my stealthy aproach on is that the rules said all ships had a base stealth rating of 1 , just like they have a base hyperdrive rating of 1. So everyone's ships are capable of attempting to hide, its just that any advanced sensors at all go bypass such basic systems. That is my take on the situation anyway.

For determining stelath vs advnaced sensors for later, we should probably just do everything in good faith. LIke Darkevilme suggested when stealth C3I is similiar have the searching party pick up sensor ghosts, etc.

Sensor ghosts and so forth is what Tanasinn and I did during our initial contact.

Also, does C3I stack, or does the fleet use the highest ship's rating? Because everyone seems to treat it as stacking, but the rules suggest otherwise.
The Rules: Stealth wrote:If an enemy has a vessel with C3 rating equal or greater to your Stealth Rating, you may be located and targeted as normal.
Note that it's a vessel, not a combined C3 rating.

Incidentally, with the stealth rules, this means that strictly speaking my stealth frigates are absolutely undetectable by anyone who didn't spend racial points on Improved Tech (C3I), because their stealth rating is 11 (or possibly 21; the rules are unclear as to whether their points of C3 counts for determining the stealth rating or not) and the highest C3 rating any ship can have is 10. This is a result I didn't intend when I built them.

My pods are in a similar situation Rogue nine, i believe they have level ten stealth so i'm not sure who possesseses ships with a hope of detecting them. on the other hand they've got little ability to actually do anything and have been littering human space with spy sats for over a turn now. How many people invested in level ten sensors?

If their stealth rating is only 10 total, my fleet carriers can pick them up, barely. Other than that, I don't know if anyone has 10C3 in a class of ship.

Ok, I am still on my job hunt, but I think I can pull out a bit more time. I think it is time for turn 2 to go. The summit can run over. I am going to be PMing a couple people over the next couple of days. Have fun guys.

I do rogue, the Chamaran support cruiser has level ten sensors. Ah what the hey its been a turn and Nashtar has almost certainly started to notice some evidence of the pods littering their spysats around and the carriers would of detected funny readings at times...though there's only four carriers, would their attention be diverted to hunting ghosts?
