Consistently 1/4 of a second. I guess I am getting old.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong
But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

This isn't a good test because it measures the time it takes from the background change to the time when the javascript button is released rather than when it is clicked. As a result it's measuring several different reaction parameters rather than just reaction time.
Oh, and the site is also infested with popups and it crashes older versions of IE. Works find with Mozilla, though.

It's not my place in life to make people happy. Don't talk to me unless you're prepared to watch me slaughter cows you hold sacred. Don't talk to me unless you're prepared to have your basic assumptions challenged. If you want bunnies in light, talk to someone else.

Then just click on the button, but don't release it until you see the color change. Thats what I did.Enlightenment wrote:This isn't a good test because it measures the time it takes from the background change to the time when the javascript button is released rather than when it is clicked. This is what I did as well, but it really didn't change anything.Darth Garden Gnome wrote:Then just click on the button, but don't release it until you see the color change. I have three pointing devices on this system (touchpad, tablet w/ pen & mouse-puck) and which finger I use seems to make the biggest difference in reaction time. The path to the shortest reaction time, however, seems to be to use the keyboard.Sea Skimmer wrote:.21

The usual is around .22 seconds, using the keyboard. (Mouse I usually get .33) Fastest I got was .21 seconds, actually reacting. I tried keeping the enter key slightly depressed for awhile, which gives alot of early starts if you're not careful. I actually got 0 seconds five times by accident this way, and .11 seconds once.

Aaahh, that's much better. Using your method I get .16-.17 pretty consistantly, without (click and release after change) I get .33 and occasionally .27. Whew, thought I was gettin' old...Darth Garden Gnome wrote:Then just click on the button, but don't release it until you see the color change. Damn it! .28 so far....no wonder I usually lose in those situations where players pop up out of nowhere and it's just a question of who shoots first in CS.

amazing what rockin' music will do for ya. Quake anyone?
Quick qualm about it though. That little flashing ad fucks with you. I had to highlight it so it would be died down a bit. Then this thing was acting like an asshole and as soon as you hit start it changes color. Was still poungin out .28 though.
