I believe those are normal Y-Wings and the ones used by the Alliance were stripped down to their most essential components.

Ugh, I still hate that cartoony style - what did the Lucasfilm people call it, a blend of manga and Shrek?

Are the proportions right for that? At first I thought the engines looked too small, but now I am uncertain.

Yeah. It looks like the full coverings from production designs IIRC.
And I thought LF was calling it a "Thunderbirds" style. Where did manga/Schrek come from?

I was at Disneyworld for their "Star Wars weekend" when they invited Steve Sansweet to comment on their preview/"making of film". I believe he said it. Though he did mention Thunderbirds, too.

The Y-wing engines are a little bit smaller than those of the Rebel starfighters in ANH; however, it could be chalked up to artistic license, different plating or an earlier/later type of the same starfighter model.

guys, what is wrong with you? clearly those "Y-Wing" engines came from the classic Enterprise design, thereby showing how the Federation would beat the Empire, by suing them for copyright infringement of their engine designs... :P

Uhm, that'd be patent infringement, and unlike copyrights, patents do expire every once in a while. If the Federation time-traveled into the Star Wars galaxy in the TOS era into the period somewhat before the Clone Wars, by the time TNG and the original trilogy roll around, it should expire in both universes.

Ditto. I'l still watch, cause hell, it's Star Wars on TV! But they could have gone for a more realistic portrayal.

There's also a review of the movie out on AP. Wonder who that uncle could be? Jiliac, Pazda or someone new?

Once again, Kenobi appears to be the only Jedi intelligent enough to at least occasionally wear body armor.

ya know, I gotta say, they have certainly dropped the ball on this one with the advertising. First off, I have barely seen any ads for this. Secondly, they never specify what medium it is coming to, theater, TV, internet or straight to DVD.... if it is coming to TV is it the series they have been talking about? or a mini-series? or a TV movie?

I mean after all "coming to your galaxy" is a bit vague.

Am I the only one who thinks this?

Star Trek takes place in the future. Star Wars takes place in the past. Prior art.

Is this is what it has come to? The shear might and innovation that was Industrial light and magic and the shear vision that was Star War.

Reduced to a crappy cartoon with characters that look like plasterscene. When things like Beowulf come out it looks even worse.

I weep.

I haven't seen anything except for on this forum.

I'd have thought mobility was far more important to a Jedi than the limited protection offered by clone trooper armour.

The rebels Y-Wings must be lacking an awful lot of equipment seeing the amount of mass they lose after conversion. However their gun barrels look shorter so maybe their weapons have been downgraded to reduce power requirements. The cockpit turret looks completely different as well.

Well at the very least Obi's armour might put all those stupid video game rules about Jedi and armour (I'm looking at you, KotOR) into perspective..

Obi-Wan wore clone armor in Tartakovsky's animated CW series as well.

Only ever saw one episode of that, the one where Mace jumps around the droid army like Super Mario and then battles a giant Thwomp.
I basically refused to tune in after that..
