They have a disruptor cannon in the nose and I've seen them fire torpedoes on several occasions. So there's two weapons at least. But I would certainly hope that's not all on a ship over a kilometer long!Sektor31 wrote:you know, have you all wondered why the DDeridex has only one weapon, and it's on the nose?
All that ship, but one weapon to boot...

Yeah..... it's really hard to believe that a 1280-metre long starship only has a nose-mounted disruptor cannon and some torpedoes... no wonder that Graham Kennedy believes the D'Deridex to have 6 disruptor cannons.Captain Kruger wrote:They have a disruptor cannon in the nose and I've seen them fire torpedoes on several occasions. Then again, it IS Graham Kennedy....

According to Star Trek Fact Files (don't know about the canon for FF here, but here goes) the D'deridex class Warbird had disruptors in the following locations too...

To me, also, it appears there are three "holes" there... Could this mean three disruptor cannons? Not forgetting this is mirrored on the opposite side.

Not impossible. However, the canonical status of the Fact Files are somewhat ambiguous, as you say.Embracer Of Darkness wrote: To me, also, it appears there are three "holes" there... Could this mean three disruptor cannons? Not forgetting this is mirrored on the opposite side.

Let's not get into the rabid-Trekkie habit of assuming that any aperture or raised rectangular bump must be a disruptor cannon or phaser strip.

Actually, it IS a complete model of a Maquis raider with an intrepid saucer stuck on the front.NF_Utvol wrote:If you will notice, the engineering section of the Yeager is actually an almost complete fuselage of an F-14 model turned around.Moonshadow wrote:didn't someone say the Warbird made a fragile Model? worst Trek Design. the Yeager Class, Its a oversized Maquis Fighter with warp nacelles on the wingtips and an Intrepid Saucer mounted to the front
It doesn't look much like an F14, the angles are all wrong, and the fuselage is FAR too wide.
Unfortunately, the design concept is that the 'real thing' is also a kitbash. Which is silly and wrong. The Intrepid is a cobblers design.
In Star Wars, the worst is the Sun Crusher, which doesn't look remotely hard or intimidating, it just looks daft.

For Star Wars: From flight sims, I'd say the YT-1300, since the position of the cockpit makes it a pain in the ass to fly through combat missions. (Granted, that's not what it was designed for, but I'm hard pressed to find a ship design that doesn't do fit its design purposes well in the Star Wars universe).
For Star Trek: The Galaxy Class. It was supposed to be a warship and a cruise liner, which was stupid enough in the first place, then it showed on several occasions that it was a shoddy design for either of them.
On a side note, I don't understand why everyone hates the Naboo vessels. The Queen's Royal Starship, I thought, was beautiful and perfectly suited to everything else about Amidala. It didn't need weaponry, it was maneuverable enough to get through a pretty dense blockade as well as OVER the heavy guns of a Federation battleship and it was one of the faster vessels in the galaxy, having a class 1 hyperdrive (from the SW: RPG Secrets of Naboo). Not to mention the history with the ship, it's design was actually based on the only drawing for the Tantive IV before it was given the linear falcon design weeks before ANH released.
As far as I can tell, the only shoddy Naboo vessel was the flying wing shown in AotC. Too much of the volume was cut off by the engines in the wings, too much for what was supposed to be a consular ship.

The gift of Superman is the same in his universe as ours. It's not about his powers, his costume, his persona, it's about the using the gifts he has to help people. We all have gifts too, maybe we can't leap tall buildings in a single bound, but maybe we're good with math, maybe we're charming. We can use our gifts -whatever they are- to help people. We just need to make that choice. And Superman shows us that it's possible.
Ugly nominations and the D'Deridex
Ugly Star Wars Ships - In the canon, the advanced Naboo cruiser in AotC. I know that the art department were trying to capture the 'feel' of "Metropolis" and other 1930s-1950s sci-fi movies, but it is still ugly. I'm also no fan of the TIE Bomber for technical reasons. Sluggish and with the TIE Fighter's lack of shields. I wouldn't have been surprised if the Imp pilots called it the 'DIY Coffin'.
Ugly Star Trek Ships - Hmm... I'm no fan of all the modified Miranda-class mutations and kitbashes. They all manage to lose something of the beauty of the original design with the changes. I also hated the early-TNG shuttles. Built on a shoestring budget and boy did they show it!
Regarding the D'Deridex-class warbird.
I have seen disrupter blasts from the following locations: The circular feature on the front of the hull (lots of times), the rasied 'bump' on the dorsal spine (Unification part 2), the anti-collision beacon on the ventral spine (Contagion) and pulse disruptors firing forwards from the bussard collectors (sorry, can't remember where). The circular feature also seems to contain the forward torpedo batteries. In one Season 1 episode, a Warbird fired a barrage of six torpedoes from that launcher.

Tell that to SW fans who assume because there are cylinders w/ holes in them on the inside of the TIE Interceptor's wings, they must be laser cannons and assume a 10-gun varient.Darth Wong wrote:Let's not get into the rabid-Trekkie habit of assuming that any aperture or raised rectangular bump must be a disruptor cannon or phaser strip.
