Is there a good WW2 tank sim?

I'm in the mood to play such type of game, but I can't think of anything recent. Anything good in the market?

Steel Fury will be out sometime in September. Unless you're in Europe, in which case you can get the game right now. Or you could travel to Europe and have crazy adventures while meeting many borderline offensive stereotypes!

There has been no decent tanking sim in some time. There have been sim-lite games such as the Forgotten Hope Team's efforts, the First in Forgotten Hope Mod for Battlefield 1942 featured over seventy WWII tanks(Including sub-types like the five main Panzer III Varients) Experimental and rare tanks(Such as the Super-Pershing) and tank hunters like Stug's, Su-76's and M18 Hellcats.

They managed to get handling and a pretty good damage system in with some nice graphics for a 2002 game. Their followup work in the Battlefield 2 engine was much more and less realistic since they spent a good four years creating and updating FH1942 and just over two now for FH-BF2 version. However they upped things by making the damage model even more realistic(Including be able to lose tracks and engine fires) and more.

But like before, it's a multiplayer game, within the context of the muliplayer game they aim for sim-lite realism but it's a multi-player game not a true sim.

As far as strait up sims go aside from Steel Fury I've not heard or see one not more than five years old.

I was really looking for something like this, too - but a sim-lite, something like Ace Combat except with tanks.

Like that's ever going to happen. There's been the occasional silly completely arcadey tank game, but the best I ever played was a PS1 game that I can't even remember the name of now.

The only good tank sim to come out recently at all is T-72: Balkans on Fire, and it is of course not WW2.

I think the issue with most "tank sims" is that their just doesn't seem to be a point to them. If you're going to model tanks like that you might as well just go ahead and make it an infantry sim too.

The only thing that comes to mind is World War II: Online. Haven't played it in forever, but much effort had been spent on making the war machines as realistic as possible. Could still be good, though it's a monthly fee to play.
'Ai! ai!' wailed Legolas. 'A Balrog! A Balrog is come!'
Gimli stared with wide eyes. 'Durin's Bane!' he cried, and letting his axe fall he covered his face.
'A Balrog,' muttered Gandalf. 'Now I understand.' He faltered and leaned heavily on his staff. 'What an evil fortune! And I am already weary.'

I'll second FH2. If memory serves, you have Battlefield 2 which is what it's based off of. Granted, it isn't pure realism and it also includes infantry, aircraft, etc., but it's about as good as it gets. Plus most of the active servers are European.

Steel Beasts 2 has supposed to have come out every year for the past 5 years or something, really.
