Really painful music covers

Post by Rye »

I saw this on another forum and MY GOD, the second one was one of the hardest things to watch I've ever seen on youtube. I almost hurt myself I cringed so badly for them.

The second worst rendition of 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'

This is the worst. I defy ANYONE to make it to the end of this.

This sucks too, but hilariously

But they're all just kids, at least. Here are some adults tackling Queen terribly.

For balance, a bunch of Hong Kong teenagers tackle an obscure Smiths track.

So here is the thread to make other interweb users suffer and cringe.

Sorry, I am a soft liberal and I believe that the band in that second video deserve the kind of death that would give even Comrade Hipper nightmares.

Could they suck any more?

I think not.

I'd assume not of violent castration.

Ow! Owie owie fucking OW! They all look like they are about to fall asleep on stage.

I see your Final Countdown and raise you one Iron Man. It starts off tolerable, and then bravely ventures into the realms of tear-inducing.

EDIT - I'm watching the Final Countdown one all the way through... dear god I have no idea why, or if I'll ever be the same again afterward.

Most of the covers of that song with "Pave Paradise" in it are not particularly great, and one cover by a female artist just sounds atrocious in the chorus section.

Only painful music cover I'm aware of is Hillary Duff's cover of a The Who song. Butchered lyrics, message of the song destroyed, and Who fans went all but one step below pitchforks and torches.

Ow, ow, fucking ow!

To ease the pain, here's an equally bad cover... an intentionally equally bad cover.

There are way too many horrible covers too mention. Hillary Duff's version of "My Generation" is near the top of the list. Ditto HIM's "Don't Fear the Reaper" (HIM is without a doubt one of the worst bands I've ever had the displeasure of being exposed to). Korn butchered "Another Brick in the Wall," while Scissor Sisters Eurotrashed "Comfortably Numb." An older Bob Dylan covered a Van Morrison song that was god awful.

On the other hand, the Toy Dolls did a cover of "The Final Countdown" that is extremely awesome: the instrumentals are done entirely with kazoos.

I didn't think it was possible for 'Chop Suey' to get any more ridiculous. But it just did.

'Fuel', on the other hand, was not nearly as bad.

No. It never happened. I've edited that out of my reality.
