Bush - Economy was drunk, now hung over

Post by Ender »

I love the Houston Chronicle

There's no question about it. Wall Street got drunk ---that's one of the reasons I asked you to turn off the TV cameras --- it got drunk and now it's got a hangover," Bush said. "The question is how long will it sober up and not try to do all these fancy financial instruments.

Wow.

It's sort of correct. Wall Street was drunk on its own greed and power, and the anti-regulation forces in Washington DC gave it the keys to the national car.

People tend to talk using familiar illustrations. Case in point.

The irony is that Bush happens to represent these anti-regulation forces. Somehow this is indeed bitter irony.

Yeah, if anyone knows a lot about drunk, and maybe a little bit about sober, it would have to be our chief executive.

I thought the analogy to a coke fiend would be more apt. But not even Smirk would ever even hint at his possible past drug use anywhere near a recording device.
Turns out that a five way cross over between It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the Ali G Show, Fargo, Idiocracy and Veep is a lot less funny when you're actually living in it.
