Hearts of Iron - So far it Sucks.......

Recently purchased HOI on the reccomendation of of some friends from work , and positive noise generated here on the board. Only problem is that so far the game bites ass......I tried to play as Germany, and I cant seem to do anythng but pumpout a few measly infantry divisions(5 at max....WTF? This is GERMANY......) and sit on my ass whilt the clock runs, I was completely bored to tears........thinking about taking it back, or do I need to give it more time?

Maybe you're just a bad player. Not to be mean or anything. Play it a bit more, or play as another country...

You have to know what you're doing, you just can't jump into the game abd start playing without reading up on some of the concepts of the game and the basic mechanics of it. Once you know it, its simple, but as a beginner some of the ideas can elude you. The very first time I played, Poland handed me my ass after I started invading it.

All of this is immaterial, I took it back. I tried to play it several times form almost all the perspectives, but it just plain bored me to death.....I must have sat here for an hour just waiting for one year to go by, and I know all about speeding up the clock , but in order for it to be useful I have to set it to FASTEST and I lose whole weeks because I cant get to the pause button fast enough when one of the dozen or so windows or messages would popup.....
If you enjoy it more power to you , for me it was like watchhing paint dry
