Remember that big twist in TFU? SPOILERS

Hmm, given how specific events work out, Palpatine might not find out their identity, and Vader might be forced to silence, lest he reveals his secret plot that used his own apprentice as an agent. Which Palps would find infuriating, since he got seemingly killed at an earlier date by Vader himself.
That could actually work, given Vader's later passive-aggressiveness toward Bail's daughter. The only thing is still Vader explaining how Nion shows up later on without getting the blame. I'm still up in arms on how any of this will make sense.

I don't see how Vader's "plot" would be exposed by revealing that Bail is a traitor.
If he's really so afraid, he can just have Palpatine or Tarkin informed through a third-party source.
Besides, would Palpatine really be surprised that Vader's plotting against him? It's the Sith way! He's confident his power will overcome any of his apprentices schemes until he can replace him, after all. I doubt he'd even care.

Vader knowing the leadership of the rebellion, even Organa, is workable.
Consider; that's around the time Organa stepped down from being the Senator of Alderran, and Leia took the post.
It's possible Vader blackmailed Organa with the information, while the other two leaders, as is shown, went into hiding.
Vader's motivation? Who knows. Practice for eventually keeping the rest of the government in line when he seized the throne? A deal with Organa where Alderran is left alone, provided when Vader wants it, Organa hands over the rebel leadership?
Vader's behaviour on the death star, and his lack of success torturing Leia, is easier to understand that way.
Leia didn't break because Vader wasn't going full bore to break her. He didn't need to. It was for show / Tarkin's sake. After a while, he contacts Bail and goes 'Okay, pony up the rebel leadership, now. i have your daughter.'
He might not have counted on Tarkin being willing to go after Alderaan so quickly.
There's also the chance he let them go, and ignored them, because of their past connection to Padme. Unlikely, but you never know.
We'll have to wait and see the explaination and so forth.

I guess it would explain how Vader immediately knew Leia was a Rebel in ANH...and he was suspicious of Bail as early as Dark Lord IIRC.

This is the guy they want to use to win over "young people?" Are they completely daft? I'd rather vote for a pile of shit than a Jesus freak social regressive.
Here's hoping that his political career goes down in flames and, hopefully, a hilarious gay sex scandal. -Tanasinn

My blog, please check out and comment! http://decepticylon.blogspot.comThe deleted scenes (with the exception of the deleted scene with Grievous) are indeed canon (and the scene is featured in the novelization as well).Darth Onasi wrote:Nevermind that a deleted scene from RotS directly contradicts this. I guess it has no canon status, but this means this is clearly a new gimmick thought up for shock value.
When is the novel due?
Not sure, early in August I think?
Anyways, here's the tfn thread where I found all this, it might provide some more info since the guy talked about double and triple crossings between Palps and Vader.
I do like the sound of Mothma giving troops, Iblis ships and Organa money to the Alliance cause.

Apparantly, it keeps things ambigious as to whether or not the apprentice turned back to the light before dying. Everyone around this guy wonders if their view lucked out with him, but no clear answer is given in the novel. No overt light conversion no#6553457 has this edging slightly above most other EU stories.

I never understand why everything has to revolve around the movies. Fuck visiting "classic scenes".
Consider a hypothetical case. What would have happened if the entire plot of TFU took place on one single planet. A planet is a big place. For example here on this mostly unremarkable planet of Earth I have not even seen Antarctica, the Sahara, climbed Himalayas or ran along the Serengeti to name a few. Imagine the multitude of enigmatic worlds revolving around alien star systems in a far away galaxy. A video game with modern technology would allow an unparalleled look into worlds geeks had only been dreaming and reading about. Would this be any less epic ? Why does this game have to revolve around ANH to be successful ?

I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

Bah, this is not bad at all. In fact, I am still eagerly awaiting the announcement that Captain Boobies from the video will be receiving her own trilogy, one that explores her exploits prior to the game, provides an excuse to show her in a Tomb Raider-esque outfit (Imperial cap added, of course), and once and for all firmly establishes that Bail Organa was not a traitor at all, but really Vader's chief double agent in the Alliance, who personally commissioned the construction of the Executor in 22 BBY.VT-16 wrote:Ugh, apparantly, the guy read through the book. It's got surprises that make little to no sense now, and seems to fuck with continuity (even movie-based one).
Vader seems to want to gather the leaders of the rebellion in one place so he could nab 'em and bring them to the Emperor as a trophy. Apparantly, Garm, Mon and Bail all get captured by Vader himself(!) after the apprentice (who's name is revealed in the novel to be Jacob Nion, btw) pulled some strings etc. Now, Jacob gets second thoughts through this sequence of events, having been influenced by light-side characters through the story so far, and Vader turns on him. One thing leads to another, and Jacob chases the captives to the unfinished Death Star, where they are to be presented as traitors to Palpatine himself. He rescues them, has a fight with his now ex-father figure and gets powned by Palps in the end.
So basically, now Vader knows Bail is a traitor, 2 years before Yavin? How does that work out, given his daughter becomes the next Senator from Alderaan? Leia is forced to renounce her father? Bail goes into exile?
Movie-continuity-wise, this isn't insurmountable, but it fucks with some EU, given Bail's seeming public innocence up until the destruction of his planet.
Or, even better as far as the fanservice is concerned, why not a story about the life and times of Senator Padmé Amidala (most of it in the minimalist Aggressive Negotiations Outfit) and her secret lesbian love affair with a certain Rutian Twi'lek?

I feel like declaring a moratorium on all post-ROTJ EU content right before or right after NJO and a moratorium on PT EU content starting with the new TV show and this game for personal canon.

Do you know what happened to the old "EU-fic" project? We need it more now than ever. I don't know where the thread run aground. We could start a new one. I have a new idea for a NJO-replacement.

I am entirely in favour of such a move, and will be happy to contribute as best I can. We should start up a general discussion again; hopefully, we can actually get somewhere this time.

The thread went here.

Well, since that thread died a while back, how about starting a new one? We begin with preliminary discussion, but in order not to get derailed, we try to set up the inital premises quickly. We can debate the details as we run it up. Perhaps we could start with a timeline and get the work running from there?
