So, can we arrest them and seize their assets yet?

They seek something "real" to take a stand on, to somehow add spice to their pampered lives... or that's my theory, anyway.
Like Patty Hearst-- she found adventure as a terrorist, so it became easy for her to become a romantic bandit type.
Pretty much spot on I would venture as well. Combined with you know, a childhood of being told all animals are cuddly, lovable souls who only want hugs...
For example... take a look at a toy stuffed cow, then take a look at a real cow... The two are almost entirely unalike... These people think even rats have a level of dignity that needs to be respected.

It'd be total bullshit if they weren't considered terrorists.

So when will the ALF be declared a terrorist group and PETA a terrorist front?
Would it be never because most of there membership is rich white people?

Larger than a molotov? That significantly increases the likely complexity of the devices. Possibly a large mechanically triggered fire bottle using a more efficient fuel. Could also be an acid based incendiary, or even just gasoline gelled with anything from wax and soap to even animal blood (now wouldn't THAT be ironic.) and sprayed around the premises like an unignited napalm.

ALF is already considered a terrorist group, I think.
PETA... not yet.

How do we know that the two groups are related, apart from having similar beliefs? Isn't this like classifying the Catholic Church as a terrorist organization because somebody killed an abortion doctor?

Because PETA have fucking declared support for the ALF before. It's a big difference - plus they actively fund them through donations.

We will learn today of a growing network of support for extremists like ELF and ALF. For example, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (“PETA”), a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization has given money to ELF [Chart #5 – PETA tax return] and ELF/ALF members while acting as the spokesgroup for ELF and ALF after committing acts of terrorism. [Chart #6 – PETA document stating they are spokesgroup]

Just to add insult to injury, in the Merc today they ran another article, this time with a quote from an ALF spokesman:
The SJ Merc wrote:"If their father is willing to continue risking his livelihood in order to continue chopping up animals in a laboratory, then his children are old to recognize the consequences," said Vlasak, a former animal researcher, who is now a trauma surgeon. "This guy knows what he is doing. He knows that every day he goes into the laboratory and hurts animals that it is unreasonable not to expect consequences."
The spokespeople also compared this movement to the civil rights movement of the 60's. Which was rightly decried as an insult to the leaders of said movement by the Santa Cruz police.
Interestingly enough, since they are advocating violence toward an entire group of people (in this case, animal researchers), it might actually be possible to make a case against these people with hate-speech laws. If this were happening in Canada.

Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around! If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!! Grrr! Fight my Brute, you pansy!
Seriously, this is an interesting step for the animal rights groups to take; they usually do property crime. Actual murderous attacks on people is an escalation for them.
But I don't know if RICO can be employed against them. They're not really a centralized organization, I don't believe-- they're into the whole "cell resistance" thing. Anyone can go out and, say, burn down a McMansion and call it in the name of ELF or Earth First or something similar, and that's all it takes. Same with most of the animal rights groups, IIRC. A RICO charge would stick if there was, indeed, an organized conspiracy headed by a HQ type group.

If they're drawing money or resources from a common source, I believe that's all you need to demonstrate a conspiracy.
At least, if my legal knowledge gleaned from Dark Knight is correct.
