religion poll

Post by Shrykull »

just want to see what most people are here, not sure I understand the term agnostic, I talked to someone who said that he is an agnostic atheist and that it can be theistic or atheistic, that an agnostic is someone who thinks it can't be proven either way, but that they can still believe it one way or the other,

the example he used was "For example is there a giant invisible green banana orbiting the planet Venus, I can prove there is or isn't (Agnostic) but I don't believe there is (Atheist)"

I'm wavering. I think the most accurate for me would be a deist verging on atheist.

I'm a Christian agnost who's a preministerial candidate. I drive my theology professors nuts. There's a reason the Bible study I attend is nicknamed Heretics United.

I think one of the semi-ironic things is that the only two Christians so far (myself and Captain Cyran) are the same denomination. I would imagine not many traditional Southern Baptists would show up on this board...*waits for them to pop out of the woodwork*

Out of curiosity, what are you? If I had to guess, I would say a Kantian philosophist, based on your usage of "nouminous experience" in another thread.

I used to post at the Landover Baptist message boards like that all the time. And the fact that the United Methodists draw the ire of the Southern Baptitsts should be a point of pride on your part, don't you think?

German philosophers tend to give me headache, so I am not sure exactly what Kant said. I remember studying him in college though. I should know, but I cannot remember now. Maybe I shouldn't respond until I have slept. I can't associate names with ideas anymore, i'd have to look it up. He might have gieven me some specific ideas, I just do not remember. Anyway, I guess you would call me a theist. I have a belief in God based on personal experience, but I think that religions are constructs man has created to interpret and communicate religious experiences, so no one religion is necessarily the Truth.

Atheist of sorts and recovering Roman Catholic/Born-again Christian, but I have a certain amount of belief in "spiritual" and "supernatural" so-called nonsense (like ESP and the like).
