A chat room for SD.net?

Post by Shrykull »

would anyone want a chat room for this board, one like a paltalk room where you could even voice chat, perhaps even more than one person could talk at a time.

Been brought up before. There's no point, use private messaging or one of the many chat programs that are available elsewhere.

but those don't allow several of us to talk to each other at the same time, except the AIM room thing, which you have to invite everyone.

So what? If the interest is there it will happen on its own.

As it is where all posting on a message board and not fucking around on AIM because that's what we want to do. I've seen chat rooms added to many high traffic boards and not get used at all.

That's true. Can you imagine the arguments that we could hold in a chat room? It could bring a new sense of efficiency to this page.

Just joking. Chat room would be cool.

What about an IRC channel?

No chat rooms. There's no need for one and I doubt Mike wants one. If you have to chat arrange it over AIM or something.

Why add a red herring to a group who clearly does not need it due to their board they have?....as Stormbringer said, use Im's should anyone need to chat..

I seem to remember they all support at least four way conversations too...I know msn does

If you really want to chat, host an iparty. There you can have text and voice chatting.

Chat rooms are a lot of disorder, something that we don't need.

A chatroom would never turn into a place to continue virulent flamewars without mods locking or HoSing the thread, no siree.

That's what you have ops for. Assuming you use IRC, that is.

Well take Java rooms for example, with most you don't get that option...in the few I've been into, there were no mods whatsoever....can we say chaos?

I wouldn't want a chat room. They're disorderly, and conversations could go on via other methods.

No.

Just create a chatroom in AIM or ICQ if you want.

But I'm biased, since I hate chatrooms.
