I didn't see her eyes scroll from side to side once, so I guess she wasn't using a teleprompter. Huh. More than I would've expected from trampy.

Well I knew the girl couldn't be totally retarded, I suppose that living in a world of decadence one can have ones mental capacity overshadowed by your money but she still has a brain and can use it.

Her eyes though, they just looked so dead...

I am the hammer, I am the right hand of my Lord. The instrument of His will and the gauntlet about His fist. The tip of His spear, the edge of His sword. I am His wrath just as he is my shield. I am the bane of His foes and the woe of the treacherous. I am the end.

I think that's it. Most of the time she's in public she plays the "dumb blonde" because it gets her in the news. I think her stint in prison, brief though it was, opened up her eyes a bit to the world around her.

I really doubt 20 days in prison opened her eyes up to anything. Memorizing a couple of lines to sound like you know what you are talking about ain't that difficult.

I thought it was funny and damaging to McCain in that Paris pointed out his age and infirmities in a way that Obama or any remotely identifiable surrogate to his campaign couldn't begin to get away with.

Too bad her family's not angry enough to spend $6 million on Olympic ad time for this little skit.

I saw on both the TV news last night (short clip) and on the Jay Leno show -- it's getting air and internet time, no problem.

Well Paris Hilton always struck me as a bit more intelligent than Britney Spears. Most I can see Britney Spears doing is making a media a circus, shaving her head and hitting a car with an umbrella looking like a crack fiend.

Anyway her hybrid plan is as retarded as any republican plan and wouldn't do anything unless maybe if they forced the oil companies to only be allowed to sell that oil to americans. Energy crisis solved because you made hybrids, please.

I thought this was quite amusing actually. I haven't enjoyed a damn thing she's done in the public eye since I ever heard of her until this. For once she actually did something relevant. McCain had no particular reason to use her as a comparison to Obama and it's a decidely negative insinuation. Looks good on the old buzzard. 8)

Crooks and Liars has posted the truly hilarious, not to mention, rather scary.

We’re well past the point at which congressional Republicans have jumped the shark, but let’s pause to appreciate the fact that at least one leading GOP lawmaker is now looking to a fake ad by a 27-year-old heiress/reality-show star as a serious source of public policy.

The lines between celebrity and politician blurred into a haze Thursday at a Republican news conference, as one congressman began pushing Paris Hilton’s “plan” on energy.

“Let’s bring up the Paris Hilton plan,” goaded Rep. Michael Burgess, R-Texas. […] “Even Paris Hilton had an energy plan that she’s talking about,” said Burgess, seizing a chance to make Democrats look lackluster on the issue.

The Texas congressman tried to put Hilton in the Republican camp, claiming her words mirrored current GOP legislation known as the “No More Excuses Energy Act”. But, while that proposal does allow offshore drilling, a congressional summary shows it does not contain tax credits to encourage new automobile technology.

For crying out loud, Paris Hilton is not a policy expert. She wasn’t seriously offering an energy proposal for members of Congress to embrace as an actual solution.

For that matter, Hilton’s fake ad talked about using expanded coastal drilling to “carry us until the new technologies kick in,” which doesn’t make any sense, since even the Bush administration and McCain’s policy aides concede that we’re about a decade away from new coastal drilling having any kind of effect on the marketplace. And even then, we’re talking about pennies on the gallon. There’s nothing to actually “carry us” at all.

And yet, we actually have an elected member of Congress announcing, “Let’s bring up the Paris Hilton plan.”

It’s as if Republicans are going out of their way to appear ridiculous. On purpose.

Senator McCain, at long last, have you no shame? I am no fan of the Hiltons, but they were your supporters and you used them in a terribly humiliating manner. One simply does not use supporters in such a way. But even more than that, you are what it takes to make Paris Hilton look classy. I do not believe there is, nor can there be a stronger condemnation of your poise and refinement than that.

Sadly, a lot of Americans don't get it. They think that if offshore drilling is approved, gas prices will drop at the pump by next year.

and i'm quite certain that the Daily Show is the only program that pointed out this claim was bullshit.

The more I watch, the more I am beginning to share Darth Wong's disdain for the american newsmedia. All they do is repeat the talking points of the candidates with no investigation whatsoever into weather or not the candidate (mostly MCcain) is lying their ass off.

I have to ask. Does the newsmedia in other countries actually, ya know, investigate shit?
