They were definitely physically stronger, but I doubt it was enough to shrug off bullet-fire on its own. Either way their uniforms definitely seemed to be armor of some type.[R_H] wrote: Physically they seem to be quite strong too. The alien caught Ronin's pistol arm as he was about to bring it up to fire, slammed him into both sides of the door jamb, slammed him into the wall twice (once the whole body, had him pinned and slammed Ronin's upper torso) and then tossed Ronin on to the floor. The alien was about Ronin's height (6'4") if not taller.

"It's you Americans. There's something about nipples you hate. If this were Germany, we'd be romping around naked on the stage here."
The problem is that they do this with all the new bad guys. The Jaffa were strong, Wraith were strong, and now these guys. With the Jaffa they explained with armour piercing, the Wraith just seemed to get weak. Hope it's not a toughness for the first season style with the new guys. Force Earth to have to improve or be in big trouble or start massing higher numbers.

Since these bad-guys were in an alternate universe, it's probably safe to write them off as a one-off villain that we'll never see again.Meest wrote:The problem is that they do this with all the new bad guys. The front of their uniforms appears to be a plate of armor of some sorts, the alien's back (seen while he's bouncing Ronin around) rear doesn't have such a plate, just looks like part of the uniform worn underneath. It didn't appear that Sheppard's intial burst which impact on the alien's upper back and shoulder had any effect (perhaps richocehing [sp, there's a t in there somewhere] off the rounded pauldron), but Sheppard's long (~30 round) burst at close range and Ronin's equally close ranged blast to its back did the trick.General Zod wrote: They were definitely physically stronger, but I doubt it was enough to shrug off bullet-fire on its own. I'm a little annoyed that they didn't bother grabbing the alien energy weapon to try and kill the other boarders. It definitely seemed to be at least on par with Ronan's weapon (maybe only on medium setting, but whatever), and probably more effective than a 9mm. Not to mention the likely increased endurance.

Ah but sheppard has a .45, and they all fall to hardballBraedley wrote:I'm a little annoyed that they didn't bother grabbing the alien energy weapon to try and kill the other boarders. Those who beat their swords into plowshares will plow for those who did not.
What surprised me was that the alien didn't have its weapon unholstered. It's on an enemy ship, they quite likely have small arms...and it walks around with out its pistol in hand. WTF?Braedley wrote:I'm a little annoyed that they didn't bother grabbing the alien energy weapon to try and kill the other boarders. Excuse me, a person who is not a gun guy, for not noticing that the gun was a larger calibre gun from a few shots on screen. For all I knew, it was a Glock that he was carrying. His Divine Shadow wrote:Ah but sheppard has a .45, and they all fall to hardballBraedley wrote:I'm a little annoyed that they didn't bother grabbing the alien energy weapon to try and kill the other boarders. Well, the Berretta M9 is the issue sidearm, and is chambered for 9mm. I didn't even notice that it wasn't a Berretta after watching the scene a few times through. But I guess because the SG teams are special they don't have to use the issue weapons (FN P90, HK G36, HK MP7, USAS-12 etc.).Braedley wrote:Excuse me, a person who is not a gun guy, for not noticing that the gun was a larger calibre gun from a few shots on screen.
