[Discussion] Revokation of Death's Title

Post by Coyote »

I got this from DEATH in my PM box this morning:
Hello Coyote.
I'd like to petition the senate, or mods about the removal of my custom title.

I've been a member in decent standing with the title for far longer than my period without it, and worse than I by far have been banned and restored in that time-frame.
I'll maintain and improve on my good behavior, thanks/first born offspring sacrifice in advance, D.

Thanks
I personally believe that DEATH has shown progress, and feel it is time to remove the Retarded Spambot title.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

I second the motion.

I would say "let a poll be posted", then.

He is harmless now, still mostly useless, but just mostly.

Rather than post a poll I say simply, who will speak against him? No need for costly polls or votes or all night debate sessions if no one wants him to remain titled.

As with most discussions Governors are, of course, free to post a vote once the motion has been seconded provided they notify the whip, however I would recommend holding off on a vote for at least a day or two. I say this mostly to give a chance for comment by more members before opening a vote.

I can think of alot of "mostly useless" people on this board, as long as they remain harmless they aren't a problem.

Go right ahead and remove it. He's learned better since his worst days, so no reason to keep the title on him. Especially since the purpose of derogatory titles is also to prod people to change the ways that got them those titles. Seems it has worked in Death's case.

I’d rubber stamp a title removal; how about if no one is strongly against it the title is removed at the end of the weekend? If someone objects it will have to be a poll.

I can always point out that if at some point after removing he descends to previous levels (or worse) we can simply use the "fistr striike" (and the fact he's abused our goodwill) to come down on him even harder next time (IE something worse than a title).

I do assume at least he's intelligent enough to NOT test us that way, ,though.

The proper call to get a rubber stamp would be for a request for unanimous consent and if there are no objections then a motion passes. We obviously aren't THAT bureacratic yet but I'd say it would serve pretty well in this case if there are no objections or requests for an actual vote within say 24 hours.

Total aside I am now sorely tempted to add a means for unanimous consent motions to pass...yeah I'm not actually going to propose changing the rules for that but yeah.

He has improved greatly. Revoke the title.
A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

There have been no calls for a vote so while there isn't a set procedure for it I would say that the motion carries unanimous consent.

That seems reasonable. Unless there is an objection from a member of this assembly, there doesn't seem to be much need for a separate vote thread (although, considering matters of procedure and quorum, having one as a formality wouldn't hurt, either).
