McCain Web Ad: Hot chicks love Obama!

How many young white women professing adoration for Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, can you count in this anti-Obama web video that the campaign of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz, was sending out yesterday?

One...two...three...four...sure are a lot of young white women in this thing....

Why do you think they put so many young white women professing their love for Obama in what is clearly an anti-Obama video? What would possibly be negative about young white women liking Sen. Obama?

When asked, the McCain campaign says they took the video from local news packages, but of course that doesn't explain anything.

UPDATE: McCain campaign senior adviser Mark Salter writes to say: "All we are suggesting is 'the kids think he's dreamy. But should he be president?'"

UPDATE 2: Looks like the McCain campaign has taken the video off youtube.

If that wasn't a racist dog-whistle, McCain has gone insane and senile.

Anyone else ever notice the double standard here? As a white man, it is acceptable for me to stick my pen in whatever colored ink I can find (which I do

Even as a racist dog-whistle, it still has the effect of making Obama look good. I know they have to skirt around what they really want to come out and say, but overall it's still bizarre. These are about the clumsiest, most inept attack ads I've seen in years.

That raises a question; where is the Republican propaganda machine of 2004? Are they all worried about indictment or something?

What's really interesting is that in all the ads I've ever seen from McCain, the pictures of Obama are not especially bad. Usually he (Obama) is shown smiling, standing in front of the teeming masses.

A lot of times you see the target of the candidate's negative ad portrayed in a most unflattering light. Usually he (or she) is shown with a scowl on his (or her) face. The pictures is usually in black and white, etc.

In any case, I think it's pretty damn clear what the implication is by using white women. To put it any more blatantly they would have to show the words "Obama is going after your white women" on the screen!

Its obvious. Whites are a "purer," "higher" race, and women are the "protected" and "pure" sex. White women can be corrupted and ruined by black men. White men can have mulatto bastards all day long. Its really old thinking; Roman sexuality was similarly structure along narratives of power, but at least it admitted it.

It's there, and it's yelling, but several problems have risen:

Fox News, their primary party propaganda arm, is crashing in ratings. Even their CNN lackey, Glen Beck, is tanking.

The Right used up alot of ammo or saw their ammo used up in the primary in the bizarre bedfellows to get Hillary to the nomination.

Obama's past simply isn't that impeachable. Thus the main running attacks are for racists and religious fundies.

Lack of funds. No one's paying them.

And finally, McCain. McCain is an idiot, poor at campaigning, and not running a good campaign.

Alot of the Right Wing is simply burrowing, I suspect, trying to get into publishing houses as fast as possible, so their income becomes supplemented with NYT Bestsellers who have that little telltake mark saying they were bought in bulk, not at the normal rate.

Anyway, what infuriates me is that it's literally impossible to convince anyone my age that an ad has a racist subtext unless a) they are already 100% for Obama, b) they are in a class and the professor tells them so, or c) the ad uses the word "nigger."

There are a lot of white people who believe that racism is a thing of the past, and that the only racists are the minorities who themselves are "too focused on race issues". The phenomenon they speak of is real, but when they try to group all racism-related complaints into that category, they betray their own ignorance and stupidity.

I honestly hate white people who think there's no such thing as racism any more, or who think that the real victims of racism nowadays are white people suffering from affirmative action. I would love to magically make them spend a year living as a black person.

Just so you know, not all black guys have big dicks. There's a black guy in my school who was over six feet in 8th grade and his girlfriend revealed that he's about four inches. So all the racist scumbags could just end up REALLY unlucky.

For about 250 years, white men could screw their black slaves any time they wanted. White men could also rape free black women with impunity for another hundred years or so after that. So on one level, it is a classic case of what shrinks call "projection"

This is more than projection, though. Several studies have shown that much of the fear of black crime among racist whites is not just fear of the crime itself, but fear that the perpetrator might be out for revenge for all the evil things whites did to blacks (not just slavery and Jim Crow, but more recent discrimination, too).

That is why there is so much fear of the Angry Black Man (AKA -the Uppity Nigger) in general, and that much more fear of the Black Dick, the size and potency of which has taken on such mythical proportions.

Which reminds me: A little over a month ago, when I was talking to Sam Seder on The Mike Malloy Show about Jesse Helms, Seder pointed out that the Republitards are using the exact same smears against Obama that scumbags like Helms used against King. I said there was one they hadn't used yet: When MLK went to collect his Nobel Prize, the FBI and all the right-wing media outlets put out the word that the real reason Martin Luther King went to get his award in person was because he heard Scandinavian women craved sex with black men. I told Seder that by late August/ early September the Republitards would start implying that Obama is only running to nail white bitches.

As usual, my predictions came true earlier than scheduled.

Admittedly not nearly as much as I've heard white guys bitching about white girls dating black guys, but it does exist.

IMHO, it's fear about the 'mandingo buck' coupled with the fear that your property (woman) will leave you for the black guy.

as an add-on to this post, remember the Founding Fathers were big on this-especially Jefferson. The forced breeding by caucasians-as well as other factors (like breeding with the natives) resulted in many African-Americans today having a light skin color (at least not "burnt porkchop"). That's how widespread it was and the effects.

It's as common. Actually over here black americans are probably worse about it in the sense that they will more openly make comments about it. I had one older black man walk toward me and the direction of this girl saying to his friend "brotha, brotha, brotha..., she got herself with a jehovah witness..." whatever that means.

From white people the most I've gotten were stares from older Italian or hispanic women.

Living in the land of 'hard working white Americans', I can honestly say I've probably heard as much open or 'dog whistling' racism as anyone else here has.

That said, in my experience the black community is as insular as the white community is, and the only time the two come together is when they both condemn interracial dating or when they condemn* illegal immigration.

Of course in other localities, YMMV.

*I'll freely admit my opposition to illegal immigration.
