Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!
Grrr! Fight my Brute, you pansy!

Nah, you are poles, therefore not Slavic enough, in the eyes of the Shadows. Plus, you are Catholic, thus heretics.PeZook wrote:Figolfin, dude - PeZookia is very Slavic
And oh, Ouranos = Uranus. Just Greek.

This is an empty country and I am it's king, and I should not be allowed to touch anything.
Basically, i am thinking that if Zoria can not be an island about taking the Old SKZ Map and Cramming on that Forth Continent via what was the Southern coast that faced Saddamistan in the Original version of SD.net's world. Basically think India Geologically (including having a decent sized mountain Range on the Northern Coast) with a route near the southern coastline. Hopefully with a Player on the boarder
Rough over-veiw of the History of the United Kingdom of Zoria.
-Prehistory, various Neolithic tribes run about with at best rudementry agriculture
-Pagan Norse Colonization on northern Coast, Sucsess rather limited at first although they do establish themselves and become dominant by the Sixteenth century with waring city states and principalities of vikings
-Shroomanian discovery of Zoria aroung 1650, Establishment of a few trading forts after making a few alliances with Principalitie.
-Colonization begins by the Shroomanian Settlement Syndicate at a slow but continious build up by Shroomanian settlers over the next century and a Half getting a population of about 150,000 by 1800 while a sizable fraction
-Early 19th century, Shroomanian Government does some major Cockups and pisses off the natives and the Colonists, resulting in a Revolutionary war backed up by the, creation of the Kingdom of Zoria out of the Colonized area as a prominant revolutionary figure crowns himself king in a parliamentry Monarchy.
-Around 1850 to 1880, Zorian Wars of Unification where the Industrialized Zorian Kingdom unites the Divided and mostly undustrialized principalities and city states of Zoria under one banner. Principalities that submit get positions in an Upper house of Parliament while benifiting from things such as railways and education programs, while those who don't get carved up between the Principalities that do. Education programs are set up to promote Zorian Nationalism among the population.
-Stuff after 1900 is still being announced.

That's my main gripe with Coyote's system: what kind of kit makes out "elite" for instance? How many tanks are in your brigade? Etc.Raj Ahten wrote:Sea Skimmer, I note from your order of battle that you have very heavy tank units. Just what sorts of monstrosities do they field?
I think people should at least try and clarify that. I mean if nothing else say how many tanks/IFVs/whatever are in a company. Then say how many companies you have in your BNs, and so on up the line. You don't have to do the math yourself (though it'd be nice ) but at least give us some kind of guideline.
I mean, one of Raj's "brigades" may be different than what Coyote has in mind for his. How are we supposed to know unless you tell us?

The abortive real life Soviet IS-7 tank (weight 68 metric tons) upgraded with reactive armor, newer but not ultra modern fire control and more machine gun ammo storage, increasing weight to about 71 metric tons or about 78.1 short tons. That’s about 7 tons heavier then the newest and bestest M1 Abrams with long life tracks. Japanistan calls it very heavy mainly because well… by any standard the Abrams is very heavy already, and Japanistans own tanks are mostly in the range of 50 tons or even less. The primary purpose of these tanks is breaking through heavy infantry defenses in urban areas, not battling other tanks. More such Very Heavy regiments will be under Centrally Controlled Supporting Assets, but it’s not a common vehicle, perhaps 200 total have been upgraded in the whole army. A very heavy tank regiment is much smaller then a normal tank regiment, and also has a few old assault guns attached for support.Raj Ahten wrote:Sea Skimmer, I note from your order of battle that you have very heavy tank units. Na…. I figure it’s only fair that I develop the nuclear powered vehicles completely in game. Course that doesn’t mean I won’t use surplus IS-7s for conversion into nuclear motive power technology demonstrators.Raj Ahten wrote: Well given that he deployed nuclear bulldozer's last time,it is a strong possibility that something special might be deployed this time around as well.
As for numbers of vehicles in units ect…. I’ll be posting tables to organization and equipment for ALL my different types of units later on. But pretty much everything is going to be based on Soviet and North Korean practices.

Damn. Well, I wouldn't want to fight one of those with just an RPG, that's for sure. I suppose it wouldn't stand up too well against the latest ATGM's with tandem warheads and top attack modes, but then again, nothing really does.Sea Skimmer wrote:The abortive real life Soviet IS-7 tank (weight 68 metric tons) upgraded with reactive armor, newer but not ultra modern fire control and more machine gun ammo storage, increasing weight to about 71 metric tons or about 78.1 short tons.

Tentatively I’d say the old continent since while I can be very flexible with my history, it is very old, and the new continent doesn’t have enough to overrun anyway.

I thought I had put it out that the levels of equipment corresponded to eras/tech generations.... so "elite" would be the latest & greatest, like 1995+, all the way down to Warlord Horde, using Gen-I refit Shermans, T-54s, T-34s, etc...RogueIce wrote:That's my main gripe with Coyote's system: what kind of kit makes out "elite" for instance?Raj Ahten wrote:Sea Skimmer, I note from your order of battle that you have very heavy tank units. Ahh, hell, that's right-- Western platoons center around four vehicles whereas Pact platoons had three. How many tanks are in your brigade? Etc.
I made my Brigades based on Western style brigades, four per platoon and 13-man squads.
I have a post I'll put up tomorrow that outlines how much of everything is where.I think people should at least try and clarify that.

That’s pretty much the jist of it, and both top attack and heavy anti tank missiles are hard to employ in a close range urban battle. The main point of the tank though is simply that it has a 14.5mm coax and a 130mm naval gun for armament. That gun fires a very powerful 75lb HE-FRAG shell, since it was designed as a naval weapon and not a high velocity anti tank gun. In comparison the standard HE-FRAG shell for Soviet 125mm tank guns weighs about 51.3lb and the US M830 120mm HEAT shell (the US doesn’t have a real 120mm general purpose HE round in service) weighs just 29.8lbRaj Ahten wrote: Damn. Well, I wouldn't want to fight one of those with just an RPG, that's for sure. I suppose it wouldn't stand up too well against the latest ATGM's with tandem warheads and top attack modes, but then again, nothing really does.

Hmmm... I'm going to flesh out some of the details of my forces. Things like "elite kit" and "professional", etc, obviously need to be explained as well as what exactly is in my brigades (note-- it does, in fact, include things like Engineers & Intel & all that... look at "Brigade Combat Teams" in Wiki for an idea of what I based it all on).
But exactly what type of Engineer equipment, and so on, will be necessary (since I noted Skim detailed where he had, for example, pontoon bridges and the like specifically).
Also, what about fixed air defense batteries?

One thing that we should work out is economics. I have two questions that you guys need to adress
1-What Economic Model you are using? I was going to go with a rather convetional Market economy with social programs model and Stas will likely go with a more Soviet Union style command economy with a few Market elements model, but what of you?
2-What is the basis of your economy? What manufacturing do you have? What resources do you posses? What crops to you grow? and so on.

I used Coyote's Legos for the Air Cav, and Beowulfs examples for the Marines. I'm not that knowledgable about all the ins and outs of military hardware and logistics, so if someone sees something obvious wrong with my list, like an adequate number of resupply ships or tankers or helicopters, and points it out, I would greatly appreciate it.
Is it possible for me to be on a small island, or a chain of even smaller islands, rather than a mainland? I have a couple busy days ahead of me but I will try to post some stuff about my nation's society and history, and flesh out this oob.

I think I'll kind of make myself (Kingdom of Serenity) an island near the 4th continent, this way my history can be tied easily to my nation joining the MESS around WWII.

I’ve gotten my basic divisional TO&E up for people to look at, brigades, regiments and battalions are going to wait until after I get the Air Force and Navy Done. Also before anyone even asks, yes I have a lot of airborne forces, but what I don’t have is anything like the airlift to move them all at once, so in practice airborne units serve mainly as elite infantry.

Just a question, since everyone missed the question I asked a page or two ago, how many C-17 or An-124 will it take to cart around 30 BMP-3s or LAV III?Sea Skimmer wrote:I’ve gotten my basic divisional TO&E up for people to look at, brigades, regiments and battalions are going to wait until after I get the Air Force and Navy Done. Has there been any precedent for airbourne forces being equiped with MBTs?

Rampant capitalism, of course! The city-state itself is run as a company, and possesses significant amounts of stocks of San Dorado's biggest industries. In turn, most of the CEOs of those industries sit on the Board of Directors, making the whole affair rather incestuous. San Dorado is as libertarian as it can get away with without collapsing into utter anarchy (though some would say this has already happened, of course).Zor wrote:1-What Economic Model you are using? We're a city-state; we don't grow much of any food at all.2-What is the basis of your economy? What manufacturing do you have? What resources do you posses? What crops to you grow? and so on.
Main sources of income for San Dorado would be some mining operations in the Kirkwood Mountains; off-shire oil drilling; petrochemical processing and refining; construction; heavy industry; electrical machinery and equipment; a ton of sweatshops and other assorted cheap labour; we're a safehaven for investors due to Switzerland-style banking secrecy; the city-state is a major transit point for Frequesuan import and export (by sea, land and air); oh, and of course a not-inconsiderable amount of weapons production and subsequent trafficking.
EDIT: I've decided to leave my OOB as it is. By Coyote's system I could conceivably have a slightly larger force, but I'm fine with what I've got and I'll compensate any shortfalls with ridiculously gung-ho Citidef units. A bunch of weekend warriors flying modded civilian choppers whilst blasting rock 'n' roll over the landscape will be more than adequate to deal with my immediate rag-tag neighborhood, leaving the small army I've got to muck about in the rest of the world .

A regulated free market system, somewhat top-heavy, with the public sector having a monopoly on power generation, water supply, railways and transport infrastructure like airports.Zor wrote: 1-What Economic Model you are using? I was thinking heavy industry and mining, and as for resources: oil, coal, varous metals like bauxites, iron, zinc and copper. I'm toying with declaring uranium, but it will be more fun if we have to secure supply from elsewhereZor wrote:2-What is the basis of your economy? What manufacturing do you have? All standard Temperate crops are grown in PeZookia, too. Some exotic ones like rice exist as well, but it's mostly wheat, rye, beans, etc.
