They could be repair bays. Also, it would eliminate a lot of work coordinating hyperspace jumps and miscalculations inputted into the nav computers that caused many crashes in the past. That is what destroyed the Eclipse...I? Or II? Or both? Three ISD's smashed into the Executor when it was under construction. Also the infamous Admiral Ozzel's boneheaded move. So it would seem like a logical design to coordinate fleet actions.

Only the Eclipse II.IRG CommandoJoe wrote:They could be repair bays. Note, those incidents were due to sabotage. Under normal circumstances hyperspace travel is very safe.

I realize that the risks are pretty unusual, but I think it would help a great deal with coordination. Another thing I haven't thought about was that maybe it is a rapid way to refuel, change parts, change crew, load and unload cargo, transfer prisoners, delivering new TIEs and support craft, etc. Like a mobile starport. Instead of having a supply train of shuttles that are vulnerable to Rebel starfighter raids.

I agree, though in this case the big ship wouldn't be a warship but a support ship.IRG CommandoJoe wrote:I realize that the risks are pretty unusual, but I think it would help a great deal with coordination. Maybe it should have more docking points for Star Destroyers then....I think you should expand it outwards to the left and right. If it isn't a warship, then I also think you should redesign the "scaled-up ISD" part to make it seem less...less....war-ish?
EDIT: I see a hangar-like thing next to where the ISD would be docked on the right side of the ship. If that is for support ship and has nothing to do with the ISD, it should be moved up closer to the front of the ship to give the support ships room to maneuver.

Now the Arc Hammer class are factory ships and they're dagger shaped too, so that'd fit for such a support ship IMHO.IRG CommandoJoe wrote:Maybe it should have more docking points for Star Destroyers then....I think you should expand it outwards to the left and right. But it looks just like a scaled-up ISD. I have nothing against the dagger-shape. Just redesign it to look different than simply a scaled-up ISD. It would seem to make more sense that a ship designed for support roles wouldn't copy the design of a ship designed for combat roles.

@Crix: Perhaps you'd like to look a the Arc Hammer class ships for further inspiration?
