I expect them to lose at anything less then a 3 to 1 advantage. The infantry is cannon fodder… hell just about everything is cannon fodder in Japanistani doctrine. Also 8 of those divisions are immobilized pacifying new Sumatra and they consume disproportionate resources.Raj Ahten wrote:When I see that Sea Skimmer has over 40 divisions that are in decent shape, that just reinforces how fucked a nation like mine would be in a conflict with an Imperium. (Luckily I'm on a continent with no large powers. Attacking over the sea is quite a different beast from an over land invasion.)
2008 France has a much bigger economy, but a low rate of military spending, which is then stretched to cover some very expensive high end items like ballistic missile submarines and that floating near disaster of an aircraft carrier. Large land forces are just not a priority anymore. I have however now posted the 1989 French OOB (French GDP was about 1 trillion then) in the building you nation thread for comparison to back when France faced a real land threat.I'm fielding esentially four divisions worth of troops with 12 rather lightly equipped combat brigades. Would this be an apropriate force for a nation like mine that has around $750-800 billion GDP and is likely to constantly be embroiled in one brush war or another? France has around 17 Brigades I think, and they have a hell of a lot bigger economy than I would (They also don't spend very much on defense, however.)
The French don’t really use brigades, but counting divisions and regiments suggest their total force has about 45-50 maneuver brigade equivalents. A lot of the equipment isn’t the best and is generally lightweight… but I think you could very easily afford a 20+ brigade military including a number of heavy armor units. 12 brigades are just not going to do the job if you have to defend land frontiers AND engage in brushfire wars unless this is not counting reserves.
My naval OOB will be up shortly. Its not exactly small, I’m basing its size off the real life Japanese Navy, but with more submarines and small vessels. However like the land army its equipment is mostly obsolete, and most surface combatants are geared only towards ASW. The only carriers are literally from the WW2 era (Shinano lives!) and long range amphibious warfare capability is completely nonexistent, though large landing craft and LSTs can be used for short distance outflanking landings. A handful of hovercraft are used for raiding.Fingolfin_Noldor wrote: I think if I am not wrong, Skimmer doesn't have much of a navy. So lose those destroyers and so forth, you might get a similarly sized army.
