People like that don't tend to state their assumptions; they simply incorporate them, unspoken, into their other arguments. It's the same thing religious people do when they treat "Scripture" and "scientific evidence" interchangeably. They usually don't come out and state that they consider Scripture to be scientific evidence; they just use that assumption implicitly in their arguments.
