As part of my effort to assist the Obama campaign, when my local paper's website's comments section features obvious bullsht, I counter it with the facts and links to said facts.
Despite that, at times I feel as if I'm just pissing on a fire because the ones spreading the obvious bullshit ignore my posts and just keep repeating the same shit ala Sean Hannity.
For examples, just read some of the opinions on S. Osseita and the election in my paper's opinion section.

Should I just fucking give it up as a lost cause (keep in mind that I'm here in Southern Indiana, not a hotbed of liberalism) or should I continue?

I'd say keep at it. You probably won't get any large group to pay attention to your responses, but some might argue that if you can get even one person to think beyond the lies and bull of various political zealots of the right wing, that you've managed a victory.

But that might be overly optimistic of me.
