Yeah, well, I should mention that I had a bad experience with picture-sharing here. A guy at SD.net kept asking for my picture, saying that he thought I must look like this celebrity or that celebrity, and I said, "No, I don't look anything like a celebrity or model, and I don't want to send you my pic because you're going to be disappointed now, since that's what you expect." However, he said, "No, it'll be fine, send it to me please" ad nauseum, to the point where I finally said, "Ok, here goes" and sent it to him. And he hasn't spoken a word to me since. Not one fucking word. I'm not a troll or anything (Ando & Ewo can vouch for that), but I don't look like a supermodel either (and have never claimed that I do). However, assholes like that have made me a bit skittish about posting my picture here.
What the fuck, he stopped talking to you after getting your picture. Fucking creep! Who was it? Personally, I only wnat to know what people look like out of curiosity, that and it's fun to poke thm until they post something :D , but it shouldn't matter what you look like, after all i know I'm no catch lookswise, but the only persons opinion of how i look that will ever matter to me is my future wifes. Everyone else is irrelevant. Sure it's nice to have people say your cute/hot/good looking, but if your happy with yourself, you don't need others to boost your selfworth.
I'm going to keep poking you, until you post something, but only because it's fun, if however it makes you uncomfortable just tell me to stop (after all this sort of joking is only funny if both people take part).

Now if you'll excuse me, *poke* :P

OK, for anyone who was wondering, I'm not going to date the girl I mentioned before. She's transferring to Indiana after this semester, and I ain't doing the long-distance thing again.

I'd like to meet a woman I can get into a decent verbal jousting match with, who is not a religious or political zealot, likes horror movies, can put up with my musical tastes, never once asks me if her bum looks big in this and looks a combination of Alyssa Milano and Amy Acker.

There, is that too much to ask?

Well, he still posts here on a fairly regular basis, so I probably shouldn't say. Although I must say, I am rather tempted.

I agree, but just so I'm perfectly clear, I didn't show him my picture so he'd drool over it; I showed it to him because he asked and (at the time) seemed interested in getting to know me better. Obviously I was mistaken. I think I am beautiful, my friends and family think I'm beautiful, and I'm sure other people I don't really know think the same. I don't need others to douse me in compliments; it just took me aback how rude and callous he was and made me rethink the way any of you would think of me were we to meet in real life.

I have not asked, nor even plan on asking any man anything other than, "Did I miss any spots with the iron? Do I have any fuzzies attached to me? Did I get all the cat hair off?"

If a guy thinks I look good, he tells me so. The compliment doesn't mean anything if you have to twist it out of him anyway.

Besides, I've had far better taste in clothes and style than any guys I've dated, so I don't bother asking them any more than they can competently answer.

I use to be pretty self-conscious about my looks but University cured me of that...mostly. There's still kind of a weird thing going on between my sister and myself; I think she's the cuter one while she thinks I'm the cuter one of us, strange.

I used to have a pet theory for ahwile that said there's an inverse corralation between a woman's self-esteem and her attractiveness (no, I don't mean how closely they look like a model, I mean total attactiveness, so Pam Anderson's plastic features and 'monotone shouting' school of acting are *not* attactive). That's why all those idiotic, bovine skanks think they look like models, and way to many decent, smart, and generally cute women dont think highly of themselves (not depressingly, but it's still noticeable). Haven't built upon it since 2000, I think.

But it also seems af if this is merely based off of their projected self-esteem, as I notice more that the latter group serriously do look better because they take better care of their appearance and health, while the unattractive group noticeably doesn't lift a finger to look like they're happy with themselves (and no, bleached hair and mini-skirts do not fit that category). I might have lost my point on this one, or maybe I got lost in obvious musings, but that's my $.01 or two.

Sounds like a self-centered prickless prick, Zaia. You should give out his name, people who are willing to be like that should be willing to face disapproval from others, even if they're not happy with themselves about it. Personally, while I admit I notice the difference in appearance between women and can measure who looks hotter than whom, I don't really take it beyond that. In fact, when dealing with people I know, it pains me to even think I can objectively compare them without taking personality and intelligence (ability to rationalize and learn, mostly. Don't really care how book-smart they are as long as they're fast learners) into account.

I've seen Zaia's pic. I'll admit she's quite cute, but since it's only a picture, I kinda leave it at that. If I were able to put two and two together by meeting her in-person, I'd quite easilly find her really hot due to the kind of person she is (I find myself doing this even with smart but plain girls; I'll take note of what they look like at first, but after talking with them for a bit, I start to see them as being quite attractive. Or hot women who turn out to be rude and dumb slowly start to look icky and I start to take note of major faults. It's kind of odd to admit to doing, but It's better than being a superficial prickless prick, I say).

Mr. Prickless Prick is going to have a rough time realizing that in real life, he's going to have a hard time assuming that he can be superficial about appearances (hell, I know some peopel who think blondeness is a sure-fire solution to make women hotter. ) and expect personality to follow suit.

I believe also the problem lies with one's tastes against one's own illusions.

Seriously what many consider attractive persay isn't always what is real.

Also as for the guy...it's her descion and honestly if she wants too fine...but as to otherwise, nah. I mean we can call him a jerk, etc, but honestly won't probably do much, unless he's thin-skinned about it all.

I say why not? Superficial people get to weed out who they want to be with or not in seconds just by guaging how attractive/unnatractive they look on first glance. We're stuck with having to get to know the person first.

When one of these opportunities to unveil someone's unattractive personality arises, I always go for it. Give 'em a taste of their own medicine, I say.

Yeah but some people in being what they are pretty much ignorant to what is being said.

In essence if she wants to, we can try but if he has a wall of any level of ignorance, he'll merely take it as "Fuck em, they're just internet geeks."

That's because nobody cares what we look like. A beautiful woman who's all dolled up is a sight to behold. No matter what a guy wears, on the other hand, he's still just a guy.

Let's see...

- Someone with whom I could trade jibes/philosophical nonsense/clothes with.
- Someone who took care of her appearance, yet didn't care what society thought about it.
- Someone whose interests complimented my own, but didn't neccessarily parallel them.
- Someone I could call a friend.
- Vagina optional.

Guys, I appreciate everything you've said, but have you considered the fact that this guy might be someone on this board you consider a friend? Just curious...

Besides, I can't tell you because the whole thing took place in a private AIM conversation and not on the board. It wouldn't be right for me to broadcast that information.

Which works well for all of us, since if women had a remote clue how attractive they are, they wouldn't date us. Or maybe we're totally wrong and women are horribly ugly.

Naaaah
The gift of Superman is the same in his universe as ours. It's not about his powers, his costume, his persona, it's about the using the gifts he has to help people. We all have gifts too, maybe we can't leap tall buildings in a single bound, but maybe we're good with math, maybe we're charming. We can use our gifts -whatever they are- to help people. We just need to make that choice. And Superman shows us that it's possible.
