Siege and I have come up with awesome plots involving San Dorado protestors protesting the FASTA space facility in San Dorado by rioting at the Shroomanian Embassy. Mushroom Marines get to waste some motherfuckers.

Rogue and I have an opening post planned to recap Round 1.

Also, would it be okay to put some Pacific Island-style chains here and there in the sea between the Old, New, and "MESSmerica" continents? NPCs or PCs, I was intending to use economic interests in them as justification for the Cascadian Navy's size and for why Cascadia ultimately stays out of MESS (post-WWII disagreements with other MESS members on Cascadian interests in said islands, particularly any recovered from Shepistan and Japanistan).

Probably not, but it never hurts to ask.
I'll be posting the main IC thread in approximately 10 -- 12 hours. The game formally starts then. Until then, knock yourself out establishing setting and backstory and so on in the prologue thread.

I think we should have a few islands here and there.... Hawaii, maybe, some of the Ryukyus, Comoroa, Azores, Barbados, etc... little here-and-there type places (not too many) for fun.

We're up to just before TF-23, for those curious. :)

EDIT: Yeah it may not be 100% correct. I don't feel like digging through the game threads all over again myself. :P

But the broad strokes and general timeline should be good. As to any mistakes or omissions, well, it was 40 years ago to my mind, even if funky time dilation has de-aged me. :D

Anyway, I updated my OrBat a bit. Apparently I went a bit over with my CVW. Whoops. Oh well, I'll have to adjust it sometime today.

Can a Nimitz and/or JFK-type hold 92 - 96 aircraft?

We need to save some room for Seth's nation in the southern seas near (but not to near) Phong--He'll be joining us probably tonight.

Rogue; a JFK/Kittyhawk/Enterprise/Nimitz supercarrier can carry between 80 and 100 aircraft, depending on size. these days they generally carry around 70. If you're replacing large aircraft like A-3 Skywarriors or F-14 Tomcats with more compact (if perhaps less able in a given category of combat) planes like the Hornet, Super Hornet and JSF you could probably get it up between 90 and 100, but the deck and hangar will constantly be crammed with aircraft and operations will be difficult.

While I'm mentioning the JSF; i believe it should be purchase-able as a Lightweight 5th Generation aircraft with a lessened restriction on numbers vis-a-vis the F-22 or F-23 or Eurofighter Typhoon. does anyone agree?

Merging ShepDominionLand with my IRT to form a second continent would be fine by me, though even more amusing is if you made it bridge between Japanistan and the IRT  (obviously that won't happen, if only to keep Shep's B-56 SWARM from bombing everything in existence)

As a note to the mapmaker, saving this in PNG may clean up the image quality and/or reduce the size as well, especially if you switch to pixelfonts that are not antialiased.

Finally, with regard to Seth's little power - is there any considering to making something like a GIUK gap?

The F-35 isn't even deployed operationally, however. I believe the restriction is you can have a small number of them, but they're strictly prototyping. While in theory you could use those small numbers operationally, it probably wouldn't be a good idea to do so.

*shrug* just a suggestion. it's due to enter service soon enough that in SDNworld it wouldn't be much of a stretch to have it start appearing on carrier decks and airfield aprons in small but increasing numbers.

Maybe Shepistan/Old Dominion and Tonkin won't have to be one "solid" continent. It would play merry hell with the mapmaker (PeZook) and I think it would look... ugly.

Perhaps, due to their relatively close proximity, the "sea" between Shepistan and Tonkin would be, like, very shallow. Sort of like how there were inland seas during the Mesozoic Era, in prehistoric America.

You'd have a great shallow sea, with stuff like reefs and hybrids between sharks and rays, and all sorts of awesome marine lifeforms - like manatees.

Then Shep can totally kill them all! :)

(Those NPC nations on the Shepistan/Old Dominion landmass can be Mexicos and Cubas, with illegal immigrants jerry-rigging flotation devices to go to Tonkin and MESSamerica! The lands of opportunity!)

Guess I'll try and make a few cuts then. Although this is only a "nominal" outline, so it could well be that not all of the air wing deployes.

Plus I can probably shove the 8 Seahawks off on the escorts instead of being on the carrier itself. That should put me in the mid-to-high 80s.

Personally I think their continent is fine where it is. We have what is assumed to be an Earth-like planet but with nowhere near as much landmass. Bunching them together just leaves a whole lot of empty ocean that just sits there.

Leaving OD/Shepistan where they are takes away some of that vast emptiness, while trying to shove them around the NA continent just bunches it all up more and results in lots of wasted space.

Perhaps, but I can't exactly base Tomcats off of a cruiser, now can I?

Shepnukistan OD (that is what I'll be calling it now, Shepnukistan Overdose!) is currently located on a lonely corner of the map. If anything, it adds more empty spaces... or, well... I'm slightly obsessive compulsive. Zere must ve order in mein planetzoid!

Um... we could expand the "Atlantic" ocean to make it less lopsided. And there's still Frequesue and a few island nations, rite?

A rather large Pacific Ocean could also allow us to have stuff like Undiscovered Lost Worlds! We were planning to have Magellan-style nuclear ship discovery adventures back in SDN 1. Are we still gonna keep the dinosaurs? :)

That's right, we need Isla Sorna and Isla Nublar on there. They can be small, like a Hawaii chain of islands, where megafauna continued to thrive... ROAR!!

Shep, last time, triggered a global nuclear conflict. This time we're supposed to be preventing that, right? Now, he took a technology hit, but he's also relatively isolated. Which means he alone cannot really trigger a global conflict just because; he simply lacks the reach and technology to do so (unless we all fall asleep at the wheel and let him get that).

Throwing him in the middle of other people just gives him the ability to make any minor scuffle with Lonestar escalate out of control, especially when he uses his damn biological and chemical stockpile on others.

The hell with making things "interesting". I don't want him triggering another massive global exchange of WMDs just because he gets bored again. Keeping him out where he is now provides a means to do that. Bringing him into the middle of a bunch of other people works counter to that.

@ Rogue: Hrm... yeah. Put them in some... Australia place.

Would Lonestar be okay with also being far off from any support? I mean, quarantining Shep would also mean quarantining him.

If we place them near Frequesue...! :D

1. I'm pronouncing it as Fre-Kay-Sue
2. I think right under Skimmer was where PeZook was talking about ::Begins nervously looking for potassium supplier::

He'll survive.

Maybe put the New Continent roughly southwest of the MESSmerica western coast and have some small island chains and archipelagos in the intervening spaces.
