We'll just assume that shroomania either had some continental posessions (pretty much written in history right now) from which they launched that invasion, or they figured trying to get through pezookia's northern mountains wasn't worth it and decided to sail around Canissia.

To Marina: I'd like to append the following to my OOB:

2 Light Mountain Brigades: your bog-standard light infantry brigades, armed with light weapons, mortars and a few utility helicopters, for use in the mountainous northern regions of PeZookia

1 Special Light Infantry Brigade: an oversized (3 thousand men) light infantry brigade with only one role: they spend their time practicing and developing guerilla warfare tactics and practices. In case of invasion and occupation, the soldiers from the 1st SLIB will form the cadres of the insurgency.

Special Weapon/Munitions stores: secret weapons caches, maintained by the government for use during a possible insurgency.

OK, Monday works for me. :D

Who is going to be there exactly? You, me, Shroom,(Fingolfin?), and I wrote Stas in there too because it gives us a chance to hold an SNC meeting afterwards, especially if Fingolfin is present.

PeZook:

I'm cool with being North West to PeZookia, Canissia, and that... blue place.

What will happen to Gaymea, though?

SRSLY. I was thinking the Shroomish Channel would be between Shroomanian and PeZookian shores.

Bah, just make up your weather then and we'll leave Shroomania where it is :D

We'll say it's because of a weird coldstream looping around the island that they get snow while PeZookians grow lemons and oranges and olives :D

Yeah.

Hey, on the FUN - do we keep Fungal, or do we change it to Free?

Fungal Union of Nations, or Free Union of Nations?

Umm... maybe instead of going through the trouble of establishing an embassy, let's just assume that our nations already have embassies in place? I mean, our nations do have that colonial relationship thing. We also have embassies in San Dorado.

I'm not averse to sending Shroom the 777th on a trip to Sirnoth, but he's also scheduled for a trip to PeZookia for the FUN thing.Maybe Sovereign Setzer can also visit and join the FUN?
That ought to work out alright. The masses do so love spectacles. I'll need to outfit a luxury barge for international travel. Make sure it has my favorite wines, polish and heat the marble floors, get a nice maroon and silver color scheme, and make sure the hull can block gunfire and explosions.

I know some of you are thinking I ripped off the Blood Angels from 40k, but no. Bloody Angel was what they called Altima in the erratically translated version of Final Fantasy Tactics. I liked the name, so I took it.

And damn... I'm the only one sharing a continent with Shep and Sea Skimmer? I hope that doesn't persist.

Skimmer is in the Old Continent.

Shep's continent is Shepistan OD (Old Dominion), the New Continent (I think).

Interesting times!

So, dudes. FREE Union of Nations or FUNGAL Union of Nations? Which FUN is FUN(ner)?

They were requested by Figolfin so that he can have the whole "Eastern Roman Empire vs. Muslims" dynamic going. I think it's only fair we demand he flesh out these nation states a little more, especially since Japanistan now borders them.
Well, I could do a write up, but largely they are third world countries, though the Abassad Caliphate is more forward secularist, but the Egyptian one is a ... copy of present day Saudi Arabia.

The dividing line between the two caliphates would of course be Arabia itself.

I was going to ask about that-- I'll do a new topographical map of Canissia soon and wanted to ask you about any mountain chains that may run through both countries. If you have a mountainous northland, then I'll anchor a mountain chain in my northern "France" area and run it down the coast from there....

That works very well with the climate patterns I wanted-- the mountains will be Canissia's northern spine and shield us from cool northern air, while trapping the warm, moist southern winds... I want a toasty-warm climate. I dislike cold as much as Shroom seems to like it. :D
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

How does this look:

The Arab Caliphates

The Abassad Caliphate emerged from the ashes of the Turkish civil war. Kurdish in nature, Faradyn Abassad and his men shook off the shackles of Ottoman control and took control of Damascus and the surrounding areas. Together with his armies, he marched out and forced into compliance all the lands up to Egypt. He was proclaimed the Caliph, the defender of Islam. Knowing that the bloody wars had depleted much of his manpower and his empire too weak to attack the Byzantines, the Abassad Caliphate licked its wounds and recovered.

In 1690, the current Caliph, Sultan Osman Abassad, gathered his armies and assailed the Byzantine Empire, intent on conquering Anatolia and hopefully Constantinople itself. His fleets set up to besiege the enemy navy at Antioch and Constantinople. Unfortunately for him, the fleet at Constantinople and Antioch was soundly defeated, and the Byzantine Crown Prince himself took to the field and assaulted Jerusalem, taking the city itself. The armies besieging Antioch, and Damascus was itself threatened. The Sultan rushed to sign a peace treaty with the Byzantines to prevent the destruction of the empire. The Caliphate lost a great number of men, and it will take decades to recover.

In the 1905, the discovery of oil in Arabia led the Byzantine Emperor to request for the lease of the land in Arabia. The Sultan agreed, in exchange for a tithe of the profits. However, rumblings of corruption in the Empire, led to an open rebellion in Egypt. A general, under the name of Ephraim Seljuk, apparently a Turk, led the rebellion which was successful and the Seljuk Caliphate was formed. The two Caliphates warred occasionally for years, until Byzantium forced both to the negotiating table after the Great War and agreed to give both a tithe of the profits in oil from Arabia, in exchange for joint operation of the oil field.

As a whole, the Abassad Caliphate evolved into a more secular caliphate, and more accepting of technology. It was still a third world country, but to an extent, it was slowly heading towards a second world economy. The Seljuk Caliphate instead regressed, and for years accused the Abassads for failing in their duties to protect Islam and roused fanatics against the Byzantines who still held Jerusalem.

For the moment, Mecca, the holiest of Holy cities, remained in the joint control of both Caliphates under the watchful eye of the Byzantines. However, it was clear that the Seljuks were determined to have Mecca for themselves, along with Jerusalem. At the moment, oil money feeding the Seljuks kept them from getting too aggressive, especially when the Byzantines threatened to withhold the profits should he dare to do anything aggressive.

Marina, is it alright that in between the two world wars, I constructed a series of underground bunkers in the mountains in Greece and in Anatolia? Lots of equipment stored in there, and they were expanded steadily since to accommodate a lot of equipment like tanks?

San Dorado, Siege is hosting todays conference.

Also, I will be meeting with a military leader of yours before heading for San Dorado myself, what name should he have?

Hm. If he's a member of the Royal General Staff, he'd be...

Vice Air Marshal Sir Frederick Jameson, Deputy Chief of His Majesty's General Staff. Some forty years old.

The actual head, Field Marshal Lord Daniel Boynton, Count North Emry, Chief of His Majesty's General Staff, is currently laboring under the weight of attempting to prepare the Royal Army for impending war with the PRSF and the weight of his titles. :P

So where exactly can I be plopped down? I'd like to know since I'm currently building my nation on the concept of it being filled with rivers and woods and such. FYI if you want to know what it looks like it's basically Mississippi + Louisiana, with maybe somewhat rounded edges and if need be some mountains to trap the rainclouds (I truly suck at maps).

I am also thinking of what is roughly the South Korean army + marines + Navy, the Ukrainian Air Force, and the Brazillian riverine forces. I hope/think that should be doable even on a $35B a year budget.

From the looks of things, we ought to get the MESS conference underway ASAP.

Also, if Japanistan and IRT get involved, things will get very messy immediately.

Anyhow, I was talking to Skimmer via PM about setting up an embassy yesterday... pending any agreement from his side of course.

If you did not allocate points for the equipment, then it's grossly obsolete T-34/PzIV/Sherman/Pershing analogue sort of stuff (as a general rule, un-point-controlled "grossly obsolescent" stuff has to be stuff that was used in OTL WW2--if it came out after WW2, it's too modern and needs to be accounted for with points. There are some exceptions, but only for navy/airf force stuff, not Army), but that's okay, yes.
