BTW, if be RAR BIG LAND MASS then that’s fine… I’ve determined that I have almost the same military budget as the Soviet Union, but with twice the economy, and I have more people so that means I can more then easily afford the entire Soviet Military since I have no massive strategic missile forces or SSBNs guzzling up funding. I’ll be editing my OOB accordingly... not quite as big so it can be more modern particularly in air power but yeah, that’s what I can afford and Im not going to hold back if this is going to be a game of absurdly huge nations.

I've increased the continents because Marina requested it, and she's the moderator. Most people just plain don't care one way or another.
Hell, I can always just adjust the scale to shrink the place again.

Umm, I don’t want countries made arbitrarily huge at the last minute when everyone was free for a month to decide how big they wanted to be. Maybe to some people it doesn’t matter but I put a lot of thinking into my choices.

Japanistan occupies a 6,500 by 2,000km box, approximately, of which only 33% is land area, or that the surface area of your nation is about 4.4 million square kilometers--slightly smaller than the defined region of Southeast Asia in landmass, and making the actual scale of your territory only marginally larger than what it was based off of.Sea Skimmer wrote:BTW, if be RAR BIG LAND MASS then that’s fine… I’ve determined that I have almost the same military budget as the Soviet Union, but with twice the economy, and I have more people so that means I can more then easily afford the entire Soviet Military since I have no massive strategic missile forces or SSBNs guzzling up funding. Actually by that figure it makes the place 1.218 million square kilometers larger, which is less then I thought it looked like but still an increase of over 1/3rd and knocks population density down by 40 people per square kilometer. That is not a marginal change in my book. And like Coiler says, what’s wrong with oceans? Who ever complained? People are already planning absurdly huge cargo ships and tankers... and half the problem in the last game was a lack of strategic space for nations.

It makes wars almost impossible due to the geometric increase in difficulty of maintaining supply lines.Coiler wrote:I personally think making them bigger is a bad idea and would like to go back to the original, smaller countries. What's wrong with vast oceans?
We can however reduce the size of the entire map by 10%, making this planet have slightly lighter gravity than our's, but not much, since it's denser with more heavy metals, say about .94g's. That would help bring down the nation sizes while still retaining the map proportions.
Sound good?

Okay, since Skimme raised issue with the larger continents, I will postpone finalizing the map with labels and such untill a decision is reached on the issue.
Personally, I don't care either way. It's just a question of resizing some layers in GIMP, which I can do in five minutes.
Here is the latest iteration. Added Zor, Steve and Yenchin. Norseman is irritating with his ridiculously-cluttered hard-to-process maps, so he'll have to wait
Some random island chains are present, too.

And huge land areas don’t also cause supply difficulties? I dare say the difference between 5000km and 3000km sea trips is less then the difference between moving all those supplies 500km vs. 300km overland. The Duchess of Zeon wrote: It makes wars almost impossible due to the geometric increase in difficulty of maintaining supply lines.
Just put the landmasses closer together and we can all pretend the world is in a stage of supercontinent breakup or formation, with only some islands and maybe that ‘untamed continent’ further away. That makes way more sense then just physically inflating everything in size.

Reduce the size of all the continents (except the antarctic and arctic) by 10%, and scrunch Sequesque and the Impact crater further north, they really shouldn't be that far south. Then reduce the size of the whole map by 10% while retaining the same length for the 500km bar to reflect a somewhat (SMALLER, oops) world as well. As a final measure, press the continents except the untamed continent slightly closer together and create more sea room on both sides of it.PeZook wrote:Okay, since Skimme raised issue with the larger continents, I will postpone finalizing the map with labels and such untill a decision is reached on the issue.

That last revision to the map's scale I just stated is final, by the way, to settle this thing. Skimmer, if you're still not satisfied with the results for your nation, I will let you do a scaled increase of your beginning population and GDP by 5% each, as long as you start with the existing military you already have. You can also have the highest population growth rate in the game. You're been a real sport about creating a realistic and balanced nation, and I do understand your concerns, so I'm prepared to give you a bit of a bonus.

That's exactly the area it should be in, yeah, really far down south. We can put some random Hawaii-archipelago in its place.phongn wrote:Svalbardia, alas, is not a tropical paradise and probably needs to go way south (I offered between Frequesue and the ICA last time)

Does anyone object to the borderline for an upgrade being defined as not less than 300 posts below the phase-shift and not less than 4 years of membership on the board, or not less 100 posts below the phase-shift and not less than 3 years of membership on the board? To get bumped one level you must meet either criteria exactly, no sliding scale between them.

Small changes in land size are fine by me, they can just be ignored, I always expected I might gain or lose some small land area to make the maps fit together, I just couldn’t ignore something the size of Chad or South Africa. I’ll be declining those 5% increases, more trouble then its worth to recalculate the numbers for defence spending. I am going to add 100-200 more modern aircraft with no increase in total numbers… and Ill get that damn revised navy OOB I promised days ago up shortly.
Japanistani population growth is .91%, yielding about 4.55 million fresh young fanatics per year, though as is the case with most nations the rate of growth is not evenly distributed. That’s much higher then China, but lower then the United States and the world average.

As a reminder PeZook, feel free to adjust my island however you see fit. You may move it to the Black Sea if you wish, all I ask is that you shrink the island in relation to the mainland.PeZook wrote:The map was updated, scaled down. EDIT: Unless you're planning more land to the east of where Byzantine and Crimson Star meet you could put my island there. It still works with my current OOB with only slight modifications.

I'd agree to not less than 100 posts below phase-shift and not less than 3 years of membership on the board. Although I'd qualify for an upgrade under the other system I don't quite feel that that standard is sufficient to be considered "borderline."The Duchess of Zeon wrote:Does anyone object to the borderline for an upgrade being defined as not less than 300 posts below the phase-shift and not less than 4 years of membership on the board, or not less 100 posts below the phase-shift and not less than 3 years of membership on the board?
