(CNN) — She's been the target of countless Republican attack ads, but it now appears Sen. Hillary Clinton is the GOP's new best friend.
On the heels of two McCain campaign commercials that feature the New York Democrat's repeated criticisms of Barack Obama during the Democratic presidential primary race, the Republican National Committee released a new ad Monday that asks, "Was she right?"
"Who has the experience to govern our nation," the ad's narrator asks before showing a clip of Hillary Clinton declaring in March, "Senator McCain will bring a lifetime of experience to the campaign, I will bring a lifetime
of experience, and Senator Obama will bring a speech he gave in 2002."
Those comments were criticized within the Democratic Party at the time, appearing to many that Clinton was endorsing McCain over Obama. The New York senator later said that was not the case.
"Barack Obama, he gives a great speech," the ad's narrator also says. "But now Americans must ask ourselves, 'Should we elect the most inexperienced candidate of our times,' or was she right?”
The ad, financed by the RNC's independent expenditure arm, is expected to run in key battleground states, including in Denver, Colorado — the site of the Democratic convention this week.
The Republicans' now seeming embrace of Hillary Clinton is a stark departure from its days of targeting the New York senator in countless television spots. Evan Tracey of TNS Media Intelligence/CMAG, CNN's consultant on television ad spending, reports since only January 1, 2007, nine thousand ads have aired using Clinton in a negative way on behalf of Republican candidates or issue groups at a cost of $7.2 million.
Even when she's not trying this stupid bitch is working against her own party's interests.

Clinton handled the campaign in a disgraceful manner, and she should have known that some of her statements would be used by the Republicans against Obama, but it is both pointless and destructive to continue to blame her for the GOP's reprehensible and disingenuous tactics. Since she accepted her defeat, Clinton has fallen in line with the party, and has promoted Obama unfailingly. Even the now-resolved issue with her delegates at the convention has been overplayed; although I was initially dubious about the validity of the “letting them vote will show Clinton voters respect” explanation, the more I hear of irrational and self-detrimental bitterness among the less reasoned factions of her support, the more I appreciate any attempts to keep them “in the fold”. Focus your vitriol against the GOP and its cronies; I am confident that, now, Clinton wants Obama to win just as much as any of us.

I wouldn't call playing comments made during politics debates reprehensible or disingenuous. Hell, it's damn chivalrous for the Republicans.
Both Clinton and Biden made the comments and if they're now embarrassing, that's an issues the Dems will just have to overcome. If you want a real debate for your candidates, then this is the risk. There's nothing at all unethical about the GOP using quotes from Democrats to help reinforce their point.
There's plenty to damn about the Republican campaign but the ads featuring Clinton and Biden are not one of them.
Beyond the fact that he has gone out of her way to fight back against this (when a truely spiteful politician would just have sat silent) this is crap that is done every time: opposition party trots out crap that primary opponents said about the nominee. Its a trick as old as time and honestly despite the play its getting I figure it has about as much traction as a fat slug in the middle of a mudslide.
