So...how about we start patting down Shepistani diplomats before they are let anywhere near important people? :P

You could always reject the credentials of the ambassador and demand a new one.

OR strip them of diplomatic immunity for that fracas.

AFAIK, Al-Fakim was a special representative sent to the conference, not an actual ambassador. The Consul is getting chewed out right now, though :D

However, yeah. I think Mr. Al-Fakim will be tried in PeZookia, and spend 15 years here in a no-star hotel, all expenses paid.

For that insult on PeZookian soil, and demeaning the hospitality of the PeZookian king, I expect no less.

Cool, PeZook just broke all established conventions of international law, it'll be fun to see what Shep does in response to that.

Shep pretty much broke conventions with the attempted assassination of a foreign minister. *shrug*

I just have to point out as the moderator that unless the country in question voluntarily relinquishes diplomatic immunity, a trial is completely illegal. They would be under severe pressure to relinquish it, but it would still have to be a voluntary act. And you KNOW Shep will use this as a pretext for something fucked up.

PeZookia does not consider diplomatic immunity valid in the case of attempted murder. He was lucky he wasn't shot, anyway.

EDIT: An yes, I know it's illegal under the Vienna Convention. Probably because the people who wrote it didn't actually expect diplomats trying to stab each other :P

True.

On the other hand, the attempted murder of a minister of a foreign country by another representative of a foreign country, which is practically an act of war.

Yeah, the truce just got broken.

Also, if we want to go all legalese here, Al-Fakim wasn't a member of the diplomatic staff of the Shepistani mission (since there isn't one), so he is not a "diplomatic agent" by the understanding of the Convention, therefore any immunity he is granted is purely voluntary on our behalf.

Well, there's a separate treaty covering Consular immunity.

There are a host of implications by Shep's attempted assassination of a diplomat. It means, that

1. Any diplomat on his soil is not guaranteed any diplomatic immunity.

2. Shepistan cannot be ever regarded a territory for neutral ground.

3. No diplomat can be regarded safe, nor any citizen.

It's just begging for retaliation in the form of ban on any travel to Shepistan, vice versa, and a host of other things. I don't know which convention governs this, but regardless, those actions are simply intolerable.

Consuls are not immune from criminal prosecution, though. They only get immunity when performing official duties, while a diplomatic agent gets immunity all the time.

I would've expelled the guy, but apparently Shepistan doesn't care for any conventions.

EDIT: This trial is probably going to be big in the media, though, and I'm sure somehting like a year will pass before the legalese is all sorted out :D

I'm assuming that embassies are in all of our countries as "Default" states, unless broken off by war, etc

Even on Earth, no country maintains full embassies in every other country in the world. Of course, you could've just as easily taken a consul and his staff hostage, I guess...

Pfft. If Shep insists, hand Al-Fakim over, while he's bleeding to death.

Then he'll kill the hostages. Frankly, my people are more important than one Shepistani idiot.

I suspect that would be bad for the Pezookian Embassy.

It's already bad for any embassy in the country. Shep effectively declared that no embassy official is safe. I expect tanks to roll up to any embassy any minute.

Well my OOB at last seems ready to be called completed, except for defining how much of what type of army equipment I have which I’m going to just put off for now. Basically my best tank that is remotely common is an upgraded T-64

Norseman, a couple of questions:

1) Do you want me to mash those two maps together however I see fit?

2) Should I stick you to one continent or another, or do you want an island nation?

Norseman is already on the map. He asked me to use Borneo, so I did, minus the Malaysian and Brunei parts.

Awright. Who else is on the map, then?
