Any good cosmology/astrophysics youtube channels?
I know of the good evolution/anti-creationism channels like Thunderf00t, potholer54, and cdk007. They have helped me break things down into language I can use with those who lack a scientific point of view. But are there any that cover cosmology and astrophysics in a similar manner? Trying to explain how quantum fluctuations at the zero point tie into the Big Bang, or stellar evolution, or CMBR in laymans terms is a real bitch. I know Sagan did it with Cosmos, but that is frankly well out of date now. A search on my own turned up a number of dubious authenticity - some just parrot BBC and discovery specials, some are phrasing things that I'm not sure how they are arguing. So are there any channels out there with people breaking down extremely complex subjects like there are forabiogenesis?

Andromeda's Wake is a rather new channel that debunks astrophysics stuff and makes his own videos on cosmological phenomena, sometimes only vaguely related to creationists.
It's got two major downsides:
1) So far there hasn't been any real astrophysics, just cosmology with an emphasis on planetary formation, mostly because there are only a handful of videos.
2) The rate of video production is rather slow.

DonExodus has a pretty good layman's breakdown of abiogenesis here. His other videos tend to be good as well, with videos on constraints of evolution, transitional fossils, and the like. And a few ripping into particular creationists and their bullshit. Hopefully that helps!

How is this even close to what he asked for, exactly? He asked for videos regarding cosmology and astrophysics, not abiogenesis or countering creationist bullshit. In fact, his only reference to Abiogenesis in his post was asking if there were videos explaining those things in simple, easy-to-understand manners, like there already are for abiogenesis.Eris wrote:DonExodus has a pretty good layman's breakdown of abiogenesis here. As to Ender's question, yeah Andromeda's Wake on YouTube is really the only thing I can think of too, and while it is quite entertaining and informative, I'm not sure if that's quite what you're looking for.

It isn't, because I completely misread his question in a way completely orthogonal to what he meant - it serves me right for posting in the middle of the night. That said, Andromeda's Wake is definitely the best source. cdk007 has a series on some of the cosmological issues in creationism (his Why Young Earth Creationists Must DENY Gravity series), but I suspect you've already seen those as you (Ender) mention him explicitly. Other than that, I think so far it's mostly a blank, or scattered in individual videos all over the place.SilverWingedSeraph wrote: How is this even close to what he asked for, exactly?
