Quick question here, what sort of airplane losses would I be able to expect from someone like Minoy (Who doesn't have an OOB), but is apparantly a third world force with their best aircraft being a Mirage III up against someone with AWACS and 4.5 gen jets?

Minoy is going to get its ass kicked six ways from Sunday, but you may take some of your own losses (relatively light). Beware of SAMs.

Also, what the hell is Coiler doing sending out his planes with AAMs at all?

That's what I was figuring. The ground attack missions are what'll be dangerous , down where all the mobile AA guns are located that I can't mess around with as much with my Electronic Warfare assets.

I might. Can't beat Stas on price for supersnic bombers for $30 mil apop though. Though B-1's are vastly superior.
How do you figure. B-1s may carry more weapons, but it has less range, less speed than a Tu-160. Tu-160 are ideal for fast insertion bombing runs.

If I remember properly the Backfire had really bad teething problems and isn't particularly reliable. (Not that the B-1 didn't have it's own developement problems back in the day.)

Mainly though I'd think the electronics on the B-1 would be a lot better than a Soviet era machine.

The Russians have been modernizing the craft of late, including more reliable engines. Plus, these aircraft were known to have very extensive EW suites to deal with enemy SAMs.

In any case, the ones I operate have been made to work with NATO machines, and I plan to look into upgrading it one more time.

Nice pix, Stas.

Minoy might have some up-rated MiG-21s. That seems to be the gold standard for Third World rattletrap air forces. A handful of MiG-27s would be their "crown jewels", probably, for air strikes.

Mostly lots and lots of SAMs to counter everyone else's air superiority. Go with SA-7s, SA-3s, SA-2s and ZU-23s aplenty.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

So, Marina says that she'll have the final map up by 1 September; all OOB revisions will have to be posted by that time.

Okay, I think it's time for me to just screw the point system altogether, steal a real-life military's OOB, and tweak it for my use. Singapore looks like a good model with which to start...

If there are any incorrect facts in my recent post, Skimmer, feel free to tell me so I can correct them.

Also, to say it here as well, New Olympia is called the Adabani Republic. New Olympia is the capital of the former Cascadia colony and actually the formal name itself.

In fact, in this world, my counter-part's wife is part-Adabani (I figure that being generally Arabic in ethnic background it's not crazy to figure some resembled Persians more).

I'm not sure how wide-spread AEGIS should feasibly be. For the moment I'm considering it used on my Columbia-class missile cruisers and my John Q. Adams-class destroyers.

At this point, developed nations should be able to afford something with Aegis (or equivalent) on most newer ships, including frigates.

So...dudes...

Because I suck at names, I officially announce the FASTA naming contest. Winner gets an imaginary internet t-shirt :)

We need names for:

1) The INITIAL booster family

2) The intermediate (LINEBACKER) booster family (I'm inclined to just call them Protons :D )

3) The Moon rocket. We need something really cool for that one.

I have no idea why, but the name of the Saturn rocket seems...perfect to me, for some reason.

Damn, I guess we'll need to make decision about the launch site soon, eh? The discussion seems to have died down :D

Damn it! With me out of the picture for two weeks, man...

I would've so ruled that naming contest.

I say we get to do our civilian and scientific launches in the IRT. Our military stuff can be done somewhere more... trustworthy. :P

Our IRT collaboration will probably make the Tonkinese like us some more - and then we can buy REAL ballistic missiles from them and shit. We might become their biggest customers! If they can sell to Shep and Lonestar, they can sell to us!

Does the ISCA still exist in any form?
Conversion Table:

2000 Mockingbirds = 2 Kilomockingbirds
Basic Unit of Laryngitis = 1 Hoarsepower
453.6 Graham Crackers = 1 Pound Cake
1 Kilogram of Falling Figs - 1 Fig Newton
Time Between Slipping on a Banana Peel and Smacking the Pavement = 1 Bananosecond
Half of a Large Intestine = 1 Semicolon

Okay... to "explain" my absence for two weeks, Prime Minister Shroom will be visiting the Crimson Star Republic and the Sirnoth Principality of Setzer.

The Byzantine Empire and the CSR will quite likely object to overfraternisation with the enemy.

Hrm... damn it. We need a location as close to the equator as possible.

How close in NASA's Florida launch site to the equator? Will Comona or San Dorado or Jerusalem be as close?

Why not base the space launch infrastructre in Byzantium? It's fairly close to equator after all.

Shroomania is closer. The equator actually bisects the IRT. Um... maybe somewhere in Arabia would be good too. San Dorado is also on the table.

We'd be more than happy to host the launch facilities. Despite our reputation, San Dorado is actually really a quite safe place to operate out of... Most of the time .
