WH40K MMO

Post by dragon »

I keep hearing about the possibility of these from a few places. So if Black Library let a decent software compnay delvope a MMO based on their WH40K which game company should get the right to code and run the game,

One is already in the works. THQ has the 40k license, though I'm not sure if they've said who the developer is. And Games Workshop owns 40k; Black Library is just their novel publishing branch.

Oh oops, all I know about WH40K are the novels.

yeah, but does that mean I would be the only sneaky little B****** crawling around the webways doing hit and runs on Chaos? and how long before I could get some elite wargear...

you know fusion guns, kisses, a cool ride that holds some nice twinlinked starcannons or brightlances, you know what I want...

of course riding down on you while piloting a jet bike will probably get me killed....

No, you won't be the only one doing ANYTHING, because the combination of playerbase and restrictive play options means it's already on the wiki and everyone knows about it. It continues to amuse me that after nearly a decade people can still have such odd ideas about how MMOs work.

Frankly, the thought of 'Kill 30 chaos cultists and bring me their badges' and 'C'mon lets go farm Ahriman for mad drops I need to finish my Emperors Light set with the Boots of Penitence' makes me laugh openly. I look forward to all the 40k lovers turning up the nerd rage when the MMO turns out to be nothing liek waht they want. :)

Unless they make it drastically different from WAR I expect you will eat those words.

Do you mean Warhammer Online, or Warcraft 3.0? I'm interested in the PvP focus (ironically, most of the MMO market isn't) but I don't see how it changes the predicatable nature of MMOs or the simple fact that expecting to be the 'only' person doing something profitable is absurd. 'Farm 30 players' isn't any different than 'farm 30 wolves', beyond the hilarious complaining that will doubtless ensue. :)
