Well, Chris Matthews thinks McCain will be ahead in the polls next week because he said the republican party has done a poor job etcetc.

How does that conceivably flow logically? He'll be ahead because the Republicans did a poor job? That was Matthews' reasoning?Cairber wrote:Well, Chris Matthews thinks McCain will be ahead in the polls next week because he said the republican party has done a poor job etcetc.

Yeah he basically said that, because McCain rebuked the republican party in his speech, he will get ahead in the polls.Patrick Degan wrote:How does that conceivably flow logically? Wait until the chroma key experts who hate McCain go to work on this speech.Cairber wrote:Can anyone tell me what the house was in the backdrop? Unlike his NOLA 'green screen' appearance, there's not even the campaign logo to break up the monochromatic backdrop.
It'll be a YouTube phenomenon within 24 hours.

Polls have sporadically put McCain ahead of Obama at various points, it's nothing to panic about. Given enough pep-talks and staged events and he could conceivably wind up ahead in some polls. What matters more is the overall trend and that hasn't been very favorable to McCain. You may remember, his campaign was near bankruptcy, sub-Nader levels of funding as I recall, and he hasn't managed things much better since. If he gets a bump from the speech, he's likely to wipe it out again via something like the house gaffe.Cairber wrote:Yeah he basically said that, because McCain rebuked the republican party in his speech, he will get ahead in the polls.Patrick Degan wrote:How does that conceivably flow logically? Isn't that just the sad way of it? It isn't good enough that Obama does everything pretty much perfectly but McCain has to screw up constantly to stay behind regardless. Unfortunately I don't think Obama could recover from any sort of major screw-up.
I think I see these speeches and I am really scared because I was there...I got taken in by this shit and I didn't research anything or really look critically at my choices/ what the Republicans were saying.
Now I see and hear these speeches over the past two days and I can't imagine that 45% of the country is behind these people and 10% of the country hasn't made up their mind yet. And I wonder how many of those 10% are actually going to go fact check Palin and McCain's speeches, but I fear it will be very few (probably influenced by how I use to be).
I know we are way ahead (electoral-vote.com keeps my spirits up), but I still really worry.
But maybe it's good since it gets me moving and working for Obama.

Yeah his policy of "throwing out all those politicians who've been running the country into the ground" while simultaneously getting support from GWB. It literally takes doublethink in order to believe this.Masami von Weizegger wrote:The theory, such as it is, is that McCain is now the Other Candidate for Change. I had a good chuckle during his speech when McCain said something about bringing the party back to the ways of Lincoln, Roosevelt, and Reagan. I was then reminded of 3 certain motivational photos posted on this very site...

What a tired, tired old man. I don't want a man 72 years old running this country. I definitely don't want to take the chance that this guy has a heart attack or another bout of cancer that ends his presidency prematurely and leaves a More Fundy Than You Can Believe in charge.
I don't like his policies, I don't like his smarminess and I don't want an old man running the country.
No more morons and no more old men. And no old men with a spectacularly inappropriate vice president as his possible successor.
Who knows, Obama may not be a success, but I am willing to take the chance. I am more convinced of that now than ever.

Yea, I have no idea why they'd do that either.

I have a feeling that last night's turd of a speech only served to highlight the age issue for McCain. Even Biden looked more vibrant and youthful compared to him. I think the republicans have a problem on their hands in that their Vice Presidential candidate is generating more energy and attracting more attention than the guy actually running for president. I hope that once more undecided and independent voters realize how bat shit crazy Palin is, this dynamic will scare them off come election day.

This is on top of the artists who recorded Barracuda objecting to the use of their tune, because just like the other four times with music, McCain isn't even bothering to ask the people."It has been brought to the school's attention that a picture of the front of our school, Walter Reed Middle School, was used as a backdrop at the Republican National Convention. Permission to use the front of our school for the Republican National Convention was not given by our school nor is the use of our school's picture an endorsement of any political party or view."
Dems will apparently have some kind of statement on this madness.
