I'm sorry, I think you have 40k confused with Serious Business.

You're talking about a game where a leader unit was named because the design staff thought the concept of thirteen year olds running around shops saying "My Nob's bigger than your Nob" was hilarious.

A "twat people in the face with a chainsword-a-thon" oozing with Extreme Grimdark is perfect for the setting. What will matter is responsive controls and whether it manages to be challenging without being cheap (and in this kind of game, the challenge should one part deciding on the right thing to do and two parts having the finger dexterity to be able to do it in the first place)

Im pretty sure theres very little of one man running through samey levels bashing every little thing in sight with a sword and a machine gun and taking on the entire enemy army himself in the warhammer universe. Even Gaunt has the occasional background character or three to keep him company.
What will matter is responsive controls
Its a console so it automatically fails at this, from the video it looked like the controls were designed around someone having a spasm.
and whether it manages to be challenging without being cheap
:P HA Challenging. In a console walk/bash game. Hilarious. Challenge shallbe achieved by adding more enemies or making them bigger.
it is a 5 hour movie instead of a game
I think I'd walk out of movie that required me to bash a button for five hours or the movie would go back a scene.
and with lots of shaky cam.
[old man voice] in my day we called that hiring a crap camera operator [/old man vocie]

The player character would be better off being Kharn...the guy is pretty much built for the role.

The tabletop rules are designed around delivering your strongest twattiest boss with the bestest wargear into assault, and the rest of your army is just there to absorb wounds for him. Your point?

Now you're just being a retard. Responsivity in control is about the mapping between player input and onscreen action. If you can't do that with a joypad ever, get less shit hands.

So, completed Ninja Gaiden II on Master Ninja and all the mission mode levels then? No? Shut the fuck up then, you cripple fingered retard. That's challenging, you have to be very fast to do it, you have to have extreme manual dexterity to pull off the things you need to do. If you can't do that with your eyes closed, you don't know from challenging.

I said universe not table top. Also do you see any one in the video who isnt an enemy?
Responsivity in control is about the mapping between player input and onscreen action
In the video the space marine is moving about like a drunk on ice skates and swinging his sword and shooting his machine gun at random until enemies happen to wander into the kill area. Although I'm sure your super skills would have him dancing like an angel.
you have to be very fast to do it
Hence the mindless button bashing element. I don't really like games where the entire gameplay revolves around button bashing in repetitive patterns just to achieve 'super kool' moves. You appear to, each to their own.

Brother-Captain Gaius wrote:Fun WH40K fact of the day: Bolter shells are 19.5mm rocket-propelled, armor-piercing bundles of pure, unmitigated, unadulterated death. They blow the ever-loving fuck out of whatever they hit. Like that scene in Terminator 2 where the T-1000 gets hit at the end by a grenade. That's what happens. Except there is a fountain of blood and perforated internal organs instead.
Nitpick (and it's nitpicky even for me :P): Bolters are 19.05mm, not 19.5mm. 19.5mm would be about .77 caliber.
2nd Fun WH40K fact of the day: Space Marines are a cohesive military force of shock troops and are organized accordingly. They have light armor support, air support, orbital support, heavy weapons teams, reconnaissance and covert ops teams, sophisticated command & control systems. OH BUT WAIT THEY ALSO HAVE ASSAULT TEAMS ARMED WITH CHAINSAW SWORDS GUESS THATS ALL THAT MATTERS AM I RITE

Grr.
Don't forget the power fists. Because nothing says sophisticated high-tech superhuman soldiers like trying to punch through a tank. Forget everything else, it's all about getting up-close and personal.

Stun them with combos, deliver finishing moves, camera zooms up to get a cool angle as you do a finisher... Unreal Championship 2: Liandri Conflict, anyone?

That does not work in Ninja Gaiden. Button bashing just does not work in the lowest difficulty on Ninja Gaiden II.
What is Project Zohar?

Here's to a certain mostly harmless nutcase.
