Need some help locating a MS Office product key

Post by Qwerty 42 »

So I bought my laptop from DellUniversity for school with Office Home and Student 2007, and it was working just fine until recently, when Microsoft Word stopped working and asked for a product key. I cannot locate this key, since it was pre-installed. I'm trying Magical Jelly Bean right now, although that isn't looking for the Office key. Is there anything I need to change in MJB that will let it find the Office key?

Need to add: As far as I can tell, I do not have the trial version of office.

How long have you had the laptop? Do you still have the install CD that would have come with the Dell, it should have the product key on the back of the sleeve.

If the computer is supported and software is provided through the university's IT department, I'd check with them.

I hope this helps.

I got the software through Dell about a month ago. The CD may still exist, I can try checking tomorrow.

If you can't find it, I'd suggest calling Dell. They should have a record of the purchase and the key you were assigned (at least they were able to give me a Windows 2000 CD key years ago).

Beyond that, you might have to call MS tech support.

If the key didn't somehow mysteriously vanish from your registry, this tool can recover it.
