The Airframe is streached relative to the @ B-58

Its going to take you a while to make that plane work. The USAF rejected in real life in part because the plane has a mostly aluminum airframe with only titanium leading edges, not mostly titanium or steel like the SR-71/MiG-25/MiG-28/B-70. This means it doesn’t stand up to the sustained heat of speeds approaching mach 3 too well, though sustaining mach 2 is no trouble at all. Stuart is well aware of this, but chose to let it go ahead since the major development work fits with the bombers win theme of TBO.

The USAF also considered the manufactures claimed range of 5200 mile to be implausible. It’s an estimate on my part, but 4000 miles is more in line with what could be expected. 5200 miles would mean range is increasing with four much bigger engines and very little extra fuel

I had envisioned the planes as having been in service for about 20 years or so, with the first 10 being when a lot of bugs were worked out. The problems with the aircraft were also why the total order was cut from 110 to 55 (48 operationally, 7 spares, 6 losses).

I also had envisioned 4 main pods

1. SEAD Pod - 2 six-point rotary launchers ( x48 )
2. RECE Pod - 1 Six point Rotary launcher, and upgraded sensors ( x24 )
3. STRIKE Pod - 2 hardpoints for AIM-47 sized weapons, and 1 hardpoint for a 10,000 lbs unitary weapon ( x20 )
4. Fuel Pod - 2 hardpoints, the rest being fuel ( x30 )

And the coup-de-grate

5. Transport Pod - Unarmed, but carries up to six passengers in shirt-sleeve comfort while cruising at mach 2 ( x6 )


Oh and all of the tooling is sitting in the National Strategic Reserve sites, which is why at some point I may reactivate production for domestic and export use.

A whole fleet of mach 2.8 and mach 2 supercrusing bomber upgraded with modern system is more then a wee out of wack with what everyone else has as starting assets. Most of the fictional stuff people declared as starting assets underperformed compared to 2008 standards.

I have been thinking of that. But the issue is the size. A good portion of antiship missiles is dominated by the propulsion units.

On the other hand, there is CKEM and LOSAT....

I don't have a bottomless pit of funding though.

But thinking about it more, multiple-tandem warheads would be better. Also:

1) MLRS launched mines for throwing tracks

2) JSOW type munitions for artillery and MLRS systems (more killy!!!)

3) Riverbed mines (again, for artillery and MLRS, and planes too) to counter tactical ferries

Those things are mainly supposed to blast fortifications, right? So...anti-tank drones! Upgraded tandem-warhead Javelin missiles!

THere are already MLRS rockets for dropping bomblets. So that area has been covered.

That aside, Tandem warheads are probably the way to go. A good idea will be to go for a 3 stage warhead next. Hmm...

That aside, my electrothermal chemical guns have been under the design process since the beginning of the game. Probably should be able to test fire one next year.

I meant something like that American mine (I forgot what it's called) which is basically an anti-tank missile launcher with sensors. You place it off the side of the road and it attacks automatically.

Or maybe Terror Drones? A mobile, remote suicide bomb

Or just very good ATGMs to fire from non-obvious concealed positions. Hell, give them remote-fire capability: so that defenders can build "fake" defence points which the tanks/their supporting troops will have to take out anyway, but they are in reality nothing more than a missile, a tripod and a radio, not hardened at all.

Of course, logistics denial is worth exploring, too. How do we prevent the fuel trucks from reaching the tanks? I mean, better than the usual "bomb the shit out of them" approach

Well, I feel that holding an international tribunal over them would do much to bring the Old Continent closer together. And it may just be the sly political move we need to ease tensions: showing the USSR wants justice, rather than pushing its own agenda.
