Well, it says 10 sec from detection to launch in most AN/SPY characterizations.
The calculation for missile intercept times are also erring on the side of the defender (I'll make more complex ones now that I'm home) - they take the top speed of the SAM and simply apply it to the distance, which is of course incorrect (the AShM is also closing in during this time with a none-zero speed, the SAM is accelerating, not just starting with top speed).
EDIT: I've updated. Basically the AShM speed is now factored in the closure time for the SAM and AShM. But, I'm still dealing with a rather SAM-slated analysis since acceleration time and the distance passed during acceleration for ESSM and SM-2 are unknown to me. The offsetting issue could be the range of detection which could be increased compared to my dirty calculation - via AWACS, etc. - but without AWACS, supersonic and hypersonic AShMs do pose a serious threat. Killer weapons like the hypersonics are only recently created (and BrahMos-II doesn't exist yet and won't for years, with it's outrageous claimed cruise speed) - but even the current age AShMs are rather potent.
Basically one could now calculate at least roughly how many ASMs of various types would need to overcome the radar channels.

BTW, pleae assume we notified the top brass of all SNC nations of the planned resue operation. After all, we wouldn't want some CSR border patrol to get into a firefight with the rescuers if, for whatever reason, they have to leg it to the CSR border

No need, the paras can handle themselves, but it would be nice to have a safehouse or six standing by. We like to hedge our bets, after all.DarthShady wrote: Perhaps you would like Nod to arrange for a few...distractions, to cover your escape.
What would be extremely good to have would be an LHD standing by just offshore with helicopters ready. Right now, they have to fly in from PeZookia, and that's pretty risky, and our own LHDs couldn't make it in time.
Well, you should also thank Norseman, we've been talking this through for some time nowSiegetank wrote:PeZook, sincere compliments for the awesome storytelling so far. I'm rooting for your secret agent men all the way!

Well, Nod has quite a few safehouses in the area. Because there are a lot of Nod agents there, they are all at your disposal. I must say, PeZook, the story line involving the slavers has had me on the edge of my seat the last several days. Very well done!
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!

VLASROCs are included in moderate numbers (maybe 6-10 missiles) in the ship's VLS silos, since they're primarily for antisub use; tomahawks are for blowing up huts hundreds of miles inland.Stas Bush wrote:Oh and Enemy Navy - charted the missile armament of a Burke (it's variable, and I haven't yet quite figured out where do the ASROCs fit in if a ship's standard complement includes Tomahawks instead, etc.).
Guns and other ships will follow.
Also; nice job.

Y'know, if we could align our world borders to the actual Earth map and such, I wonder if some aspiring players could make an SDN World Redux mod for HOI2: Doomsday? That'd be kinda cool.

There's a (n albeit very difficult to use) map editor now. With a lot of work you could directly duplicate Nova Nova Terra or the Ace Combat world or basically anything you want.Steve wrote:Y'know, if we could align our world borders to the actual Earth map and such, I wonder if some aspiring players could make an SDN World Redux mod for HOI2: Doomsday? Karmic Knight, now you want me to do a map of the CFR eh? I was hoping to avoid that . It might be neccesary though. I'll definitely do some more work on the various factions to give them basic orders of battle and so forth.
As for the CFR's ocean access, that area is I believe controlled by Klavostani backed warlords.

Well, it is kind of hard to draw up new nations, if we don't know at least their general land claims, strength and other useful information.Raj Ahten wrote:Karmic Knight, now you want me to do a map of the CFR eh? Alright, would you say they would be ready for a sort of morale boasting sovereignty grant? That could be the first step in cleaning up the CFR, getting an independent republic/City-State out of it.

Well if you are talking about the areas near Klavostan you might want to talk to Klavo Hunter about your idea. He sees that area as in his sphere of influence I believe. He also knows more about the political situation in that sector (having done work on it as it border's his nation).Karmic Knight wrote:Well, it is kind of hard to draw up new nations, if we don't know at least their general land claims, strength and other useful information.Raj Ahten wrote:Karmic Knight, now you want me to do a map of the CFR eh? I wonder if non-Canissians are allowed to offer arms to the Katangwa Free State. There's a whole lot of decommissioned and surplus equipment I have that Colonel S'vimbi would be interested in; I could also build some new stuff for him if he wants.
I'll have to wait for Shroom to return before I can make an offer for some F-15 ACTIVEs and F-16XLs, but I can get to work on upgrading my army and navy right now. Who has some decommissioned Spruances or Kidds that need to go? Alternately, who's willing to build me some Arleigh Burkes and additional Sachsens? Who manufactures M2 Bradleys or their equivalents? I know Byzantium operates the K2 Black Panther, but I'd like to keep my options open by seeing if there are any countries that build Leopard 2s or are willing to put together a consignment of M1 Abrams with Rheinmetall L55 guns.

As for frigates, some of us operate the F-100 with an Aegis system. So you might want to operate that.
Some of us operate the newer German Puma IFV.
And yeah, I operate K2 Black Panther with L55 Rheinmetall guns.

I'd be quire willing to produce frigates. For a price, naturally.
Conversion Table:

Time Between Slipping on a Banana Peel and Smacking the Pavement = 1 Bananosecond

Just out of curiosity, how much does an individual KDX-III cost? Also, I already operate Sachsens; I could consider acquiring some F100s to supplant them, but personally, I don't think it'd make much sense for me from a logistical standpoint.Fingolfin_Noldor wrote:Well, I do build Arleigh Burkes, in a sense, since I build the Korean variant KDX-III.Shinn Langley Soryu wrote:I wonder if non-Canissians are allowed to offer arms to the Katangwa Free State. Another question: What's the unit price of the Puma IFV?
I'm a bit reluctant to take the K2 Black Panthers right off the bat; some quick and dirty Wiki research reveals that they currently have a unit price of about US$8.5 million, though I'm pretty sure that mass production would drive that figure down.
