You don't know if they have Freespace Silent Threat or the old game Spycraft do you?

Klingon Academy was also, unfortunately, a very buggy game even under Windows 98. As much as I loved it, if I were in charge of a company guaranteeing compatibility for re-released old games, I wouldn't want to be the one to release Klingon Academy.Bounty wrote:Licensed games are always tricky to reissue, so I wouldn't count on it.Enigma wrote:Would they have a XP\Vista compatible Klingon Academy?
I think the Quest for Glory games are supposed to all work pretty well with DOSBox.RogueIce wrote:If they have the Quest for Glory series (1 through V, including the VGA remake of 1) and the original Sam and Max game, I'll be impressed.
Otherwise, I'm largely meh.

Do you have FS2 and can you play the SCP? If so, go here and download the FSPort. IIRC, it has Silent Threat included. The team is also working on a complete revision of Silent Threat.Jade Falcon wrote:You don't know if they have Freespace Silent Threat or the old game Spycraft do you?

I have an old big box version of Freespace 2, and even one of Freespace, I was never able to track down Silent Threat though.

Silent Threat:Reborn isn't out, they've been making it for fucking years, and Silent Thread was FUCKING AWFUL, 90s fanmade-mission stupidity full of bugs. You're not missing ANYTHING - this is why ST:R is totally remaking it, instead of just porting the existing missions as with Freespace 1.

They don't have any adventure games .Molyneux wrote:No Guybrush Threepwood (yet), but they have Fallout, Descent, and Freespace.
I think I'm gonna like it here.
They also lack good old platformers, they have Earthwork Jim 3d for example, but not 1,2, or Raptor, Tyrian, Stargunner, etc'.
The "Free Interplay" deal looks nice, I may buy a game (not sure which) and take Freespace 2 as well. (Fuck the SCP, I want everything to work! )

I'd really like them to have Spycraft, who remembers that game, that was pretty in depth for its time.
Adventure games though, it would be sweet if they had something like Sanitarium, Black Dahlia, or I Have no mouth and i must scream.

The early Monkey Island games work on SCUMMvm. If you persist in not using it, and waiting for someone to charge you more for new hacked exes when a modern frontend exists, that's awesome.Molyneux wrote:No Guybrush Threepwood (yet), but they have Fallout, Descent, and Freespace.

I'm not buying any of this shit until someone who isn't retarded can discuss their updating quality. If they've done quick and dirty hackjobs that render the games incompatible with any mods from the period, then the service is useless, but if they have elegantly updated the source code to that'd be cool ... if extraordinarily unlikely.
If only there were people interested in this thread who weren't so dumb they think playing FS2 is 'better' than using the modern frontend, lol.
Actually, Flash tells me he's playing FO2 off his original CDs just fine in Vista; I'll have to break out mine when I get home as I had video issues under XP.

Here's the installer. I know I've posted the link multiple times in this forum.Stark wrote:Let's be fair; it's not like the site is organised or well-laid out. That said, it's pretty hard to have SCP problems if you're not using the new content... in which case it looks exactly like FS2. So... he's an idiot.

Hell, I've still got my original Fallout, FO2, Planescape and Arcanum big box CD's. FO2 and Planescape both work fine on Vista, which made me laugh when I emailed EA about a problem with BF2, and they stated it was an 'old game'. When you can get games that are about 10 years old running on the newest OS that's not bad.Stark wrote:If only there were people interested in this thread who weren't so dumb they think playing FS2 is 'better' than using the modern frontend, lol.

There was the occasional crash, but I've been playing it with the Killap mod.Stark wrote:Oh, really? Under XP I had that problem where the screen would go black until you moved the camera around - I don't remember if it was FO or FO2. I still have my old version too, but if it works fine under vista that's pretty awesome. Flash was RIGHT!
Fallout I've heard does have Vista issues, but I haven't played it in a long time.

That'd be awesome. I'd love to have more people play Spycraft. Less with the handholding, more with the "oops, you made an incorrect assumption, back to square 1 for you!"Jade Falcon wrote:I'd really like them to have Spycraft, who remembers that game, that was pretty in depth for its time.

...no, I don't own any of the Monkey Island games. I never have. That's why I was hoping that GOG would start offering them.Stark wrote:You're freaking me out. Oh I see. Well I'm just a dumbass then; I figured everyone in the world had owned them. It is certainly NOT legal to use SCUMMvm to play Lucasarts games you don't own.
It's kinda a shame actually; I'd almost buy them from someone like these guys and then use SCUMMvm anyway, just for the extra functionality.

Some of us were born too late to play games and to be able to walk around alone in 1992 . And lack those games in budget bins.Stark wrote:Oh I see. Monkey Island 3 (Curse) is awesome at least, but hell i'd KILL for a fully working, audio-visual copy of say, Simon the Sorceror 2 (Or an english speaking version of SS1), or the Discworld games

Discworld Noir is still relatively easy to get, but the first two games, not so much.
