I doubt they give a shit about saving the world, what they do care is dominating the world. US government is not unique or even unusual in this regard. Every government in the world (especially such as Russian and Chinese) desires to expand the power of it's country and prevent erosion of that power. The fact US achieved power unprecedented in history won't suddenly make them go "OK guys, time to stop, we have enough already".
But if the forces of evil should rise again, to cast a shadow on the heart of the city.

Of course governments seek to increase their power. However, the Republicans have repeatedly shown that they have absolutely no grasp on reality when it comes to what they can realistically achieve and how difficult it will be to achieve it. I believe this is in part due to their collective US messianic complex (which is ironic, since they accuse Obama of having a messiah complex), whereby they believe that America is uniquely blessed by God and uniquely morally superior to other nations.
This absurd sense of divinely inspired overconfidence is what led them to blunder into Iraq, and I think it bodes very poorly for prudence of action in future.

I forgot to define "Evil (TM)". It's refusal to acquiesce to US dominance and interference in all matters everywhere.Kane Starkiller wrote:I doubt they give a shit about saving the world, what they do care is dominating the world. not Ironic, it's projection resulting from a dissociation complex Mike. Lets face it the public and private faces that the neo-con movement put out are quite revealing, as is their self loathing for like others who have been banned from this web board they tend to accuse others of the behavour they them selves are guilty of, in an effort to cloud the waters should they be accused of their own wrong doings.
your average gay guy doesn't do the kinda of freeky shit that the reppublicans accuse all of them of doing, yet it's exactly what you will find some closet bisexual/hypersexual republican of doing. (last couple of years of Republican sex scandles anyone?)

Right. In the case of Barack Obama's comments viz. Georgia, one can believe that he's just engaging in the bedrock "talk the talk" of American political orthodoxy. Strong support for Israel, a tough policy towards the "bad guys", unwillingness to rule out any use of force, from economic sanctions to the Bomb, etc. Nobody but Ron Paul is going to question these stances from Washington, because they can't look "soft."Darth Wong wrote:This absurd sense of divinely inspired overconfidence is what led them to blunder into Iraq, and I think it bodes very poorly for prudence of action in future.
When the McCain campaign talks about Georgia, with it's foreign policy platform formulated by a paid employee of the Georgian government, you have to believe that they really do mean it when they say they'd go to war with Russia over a distant third-world tinpot while still locked up in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"I am gravely disappointed. Again you have made me unleash my dogs of war."
