As I was writing this, I was thinking that I know of a place where there are people who can answer this. So, what's the word on this question?I wrote:Can a Force push literally "pulverise" bone? I don't know. Terminal velocity for a human body in our atmosphere is over 200 feet/second (I think). When a person falls off a building, their organs undergo massive trauma, but I don't think their bones are actually turned into powder. Thus, a Force user would have to propel a person subsantially faster than 200 ft./sec. to crush bone. How fast? I don't have the background to answer this, so I have no idea. However, I'm pretty sure we never see anyone push/pulling anything anywhere near 200 ft./sec.

Can Force Push Pulverise Bone?
This question was asked on another forum I'm on, and I responded thusly:

seems like force crush/choke would be more appropriate choice for trying to crush bones.

I said the same thing. However, I'm curious to know how fast you have to throw someone into a solid object to achieve that effect, and have Force users ever been seen doing so.Death from the Sea wrote:seems like force crush/choke would be more appropriate choice for trying to crush bones.

I think more important would be applied pressure after the initial impact so there's nowhere for the stress of the impact to go but across the body itself. Not particularly long application, but enough so that the entire arm takes the blow instead of bouncing.
Of course, the fully trained engineers of the board are definitely better equipped to answer the question of crushing bone than I.

It is the force applied that destroys bone, not the velocity. Telekinesis is strong enough to life multiton space craft. Pulverizing a bone is easily within that range.

If anyone has a copy of Courtship of Princess Leia, and the stomach to flip through it, I think that the Nightsister Gethzerion uses an ability similar to the one you are describing, or at least she is getting results like the one you are looking for.
But Ender's example is the best, given that it is taken right from ESB.

She doesn't actually shatter any bones IIRC. she just keeps breaking han's bones with the force to torture him. although she does make a couple of his teeth "explode"Darth Fanboy wrote:If anyone has a copy of Courtship of Princess Leia, and the stomach to flip through it, I think that the Nightsister Gethzerion uses an ability similar to the one you are describing, or at least she is getting results like the one you are looking for.

That is so. For the greatest "offensive" use of the Force in such a direct manner (not Lightning, Storms, &c., but brute force), we probably have Exar Kun throwing around concussive energy in Dark Lords of the Siths and killing a huge "Sith Alchemy" beastie with it (though I suppose one could argue that was Sith Magic).Darksider wrote:She doesn't actually shatter any bones IIRC. she just keeps breaking han's bones with the force to torture him. although she does make a couple of his teeth "explode"Darth Fanboy wrote:If anyone has a copy of Courtship of Princess Leia, and the stomach to flip through it, I think that the Nightsister Gethzerion uses an ability similar to the one you are describing, or at least she is getting results like the one you are looking for.

Anyway, as has been pointed out, given the feats Film Jedi throw around, they certainly have the power to do it; adding the canon EU descriptions is not necessary.

True, but if you want E.U. examples to back it up, look at the shit that goes on in The Force Unleashed. both Vader and the Secret apprentice are capable of doing some freaky shit.
Vader can toss wookies around like rag dolls, and the apprentice can use the force to blast open durasteel doors and armor.
at one point, Starkiller actually yanks an ISD down out of the sky while blasting Tie fighters left and right.

I am repressing that game out of my memory for now. Perhaps, with cognitive therapy, I shall overcome my LucasArts phobia. But that is still far in the future.
EDIT: But still, in telekinesis-wank, KJA beats all. Throwing ISDs lightminutes away, anyone?

dunno about the force unfleashed examples but the KJA example was special.
there is however a case of Darth Bane destroying the Rakata temple where Revan visited during KOTOR, with a concussive blast using the Dark Side.

Vader cracked Admiral Harkov's neck with a sickening audible sound that was very clearly crushing bones in TIE Fighter.
