Scifi MMO
Been looking for a good scifi based MMO. I've played Anarchy Online, didn't like. Tried Tabula Rasa, wasn't bad. What other ones are out there.

EVE Online is probably the most well known EVE MMO but it's ship based Sci Fi much like Anarchy Online. AKA. Point and click to do 99% of things.
Buy equipment to outfit your ships from 'elite' items that AI enemies drop or regular stuff other players make.
It has a 14 day trial so you can give it a try to see if you like it. I would recommend going Caldari or Gallente. The other two races suck

YB, what's your character name? The PRFY's got a corp in game and there's an SDN chat. Hit me up with an EVEmail, names Angus McAWESOME.
Goddammit, now I'm forced to say in public that I agree with Mr. Coffee. - Mike Wong

Well, it's advertised in the banners as having one giant server, so I'd guess not.dragon wrote:Are there different servers and if so whats the one to play on?Mr. Coffee wrote:YB, what's your character name? Caldari and Gallente are the most popular races so if you want people to fly with then those are your best options. Minmatar are currently the worst race to go and the upcoming patch is supposed to make it even harder for them. The Amarr are mainly popular for their awesome looking lasers and battleships.
The Caldari are the best race to go for overall ship selection. They have the best mission running ships, agents and ECM boats in EVE. Gallente have a good selection of Drone carriers like the Dominix or Ishtar which are quite popular for taking on other players.
I would suggest Caldari if you want a slightly easier time learning EVE. I'm sure someone can show you the trademark EVE learning curve.
Think of your race selection like this:
Easy - Medium - Hard - Nightmare
Caldari - Gallente - Amarr - Minmatar

Describes it fairly nicely. So close to being a fun game...

Is there any roleplay in EVE these days? I used to play since the alpha, but real life and the influx of powergamers (or rather, the absolute lack of any attempt to role-play) made me drop it shortly after it went gold. Sometimes I look longingly on the banners, though.
If at first you don't succeed, maybe failure is your style

The important thing about this idea is not that he was wrong, but that it never occurred to Aristotle to check it.

There was a bit back when I was playing a year or so ago. The corp I was in merged with a couple others though, the RPers got diluted with the nubs we merged with and it all kind of deteriorated, so I set some absurdly long skill training and left, for now.haard wrote:Is there any roleplay in EVE these days?
