They were probably working under the assumption that your healer/tank combo worked like theirs. Against dwarfs, attacking the healers is a phenomenally BAD idea because any Ironbreaker who has played for 5 minutes will know to pledge his oath to the Runepriest. Start going after the healer (who can do decent damage in his own right) and the Ironbreaker earns grudge and his damage skyrockets.eyexist wrote:It's because folks like to run off and play cowboy, or don't prioritize targets. Yeah, as Hord-err, Destruction, you gotta go after the fire mages first; they do decent damage but die if you look at them funny. I then go after Witch Hunters and then the regular hunters and then everbuddy else. Forget the tanks lol.
So far it's pretty fun, pretty much if you go in as a premade with five buddies you won't lose, which is basically how it is in other games. The one thing that's broken about the system is that you can't queue as a raid. Seriously, wtf? What a retarded handicap. They want large-scale pvp, but they won't let you conduct large-scale pvp. Even WoW let you raid-queue (except for AV), and I know they're very concerned with making this game competitive with WoW. I bet this is "working as intended" though.
Oh, and a weird anecdote, I was level 11, queued with my friends, and our bg popped, I told it to wait for me, I turned in a quest, dinged 12, and then went in the bg. I then proceded to wail on people as a lvl 12 in a lvl 11-capped bg. We would have won anyways, but it made it that much sweeter. I probably got reported lol.
EDIT: just for the record, I'm a Chosen. I know we're a dime a dozen, but I gotta play MT in every game . Me and my friends play on Wolfenburg, and our name is <Wolfenburg's Got Talent> ... our name on WoW was <Anetheron Idol> ... see the pattern?

I don't know wtf our team was doing during that time to lose all 3 points while I had nearly half of their team attacking me, but damnit if I wasn't doing my job.
Is that really the Warhamer UI? are they even trying to look different to WoW, its like they just took the standard WoW UI and made it look a tiny bit prettier and plonked it into the game.

That aside, RPG games tend to have very similar UIs.

Shadow Warriors? I don't even have a victim achievement from them yet . Now that I look at it I've really only been killed by Bright Wizards, Witch Hunters, and White Lions.Block wrote:I have 25 witch elf kills to my credit as a level 15 Shadow Warrior. Healers are always my first target, though for some reason Destruction always seems to have twice as many healers as Order most times.

THAT'S what bothered me about Shadow Warriors!

MMO players are LAUGHABLY blinkered and conservative. In any non-standard game (even something and near-standard as AoC) the vast majority of idiots simply play it like WoW and get schooled.Ender wrote:They were probably working under the assumption that your healer/tank combo worked like theirs. Since it's out, I might try it out. I'm bored of EVE again, lol.
Oath or not, you still gotta take out the healer. Cause hitting the Ironbreaker builds grudge too, and you need to bring down the weaker link first to have a shot at winning.Ender wrote:They were probably working under the assumption that your healer/tank combo worked like theirs. The thing is, if the IB has Guard on the healer, the healer's not much squishier than the Ironbreaker.

So I picked up WAR today, and installed it and started having some fun playing a Shadow Warrior. After a few hours and getting to level 5 the game crashed.
Now every time I try to log in I get as far as the EULA screen and then it crashes with the error "Authentication failed -- application will terminate" anyone else having similar problems?
GOA are fuck all help, their FAQ was written by someone with the same grasp of english as I have of chinese. And of course there's no forum....or even any way to log in to your account on the website....or actually it seems support of any kind at all...
Their FAQ does helpfully suggest that if the game is causing system crashes, to use the in game bug reporting system to let them know...

Double check your firewall settings. Sometimes patching the game fubars allowed connections.

Well, I've been playing the game for two days now and I have to say I would probably enjoy it a lot more if I was the type to enjoy world of warcraft. Also it's pretty clear that Mythic is still keeping its old "hate the customer" stance especially with having to scroll through the entire eula, check that you read it and click accept every time you log in ><.
I paid for the box so I have a free month to change my opinion but for now it's not looking too much like I'm going to play it enough to justify even $15 a month.

Since the game is more PvP focused, to get any lasting playtime out of it you're going to want to be in a guild. WoW could be played more or less solo, just finding parties when you needed them, but in WAR you're going to want a pool of players to have available at all times.

As a seven year veteran of Mythic's previous game DAoC I know that part, my guild in Warhammer is Dark Lotus which is mostly made up of a bunch of my former daoc guildies and a couple RL friends. In fact I had to pick between about five different good guild offers several months before they even opened beta so it isn't lack of awesome company that is making me doubt that I will be playing the game long term

Agreed, and after further play, I must reiterate my lament that the worst thing about this game is the lack of a group-queue for more than six players at a time. You end up having to divide up into groups to play with your friends. It's just kind of lame for something that wouldn't break the gameplay and would be a snap to implement. Hopefully it gets patched in.DPDarkPrimus wrote:Since the game is more PvP focused, to get any lasting playtime out of it you're going to want to be in a guild.
