Wish me luck!
Tomorrow I will do what I have been putting off for over a year. I will finally suck it up a grade for 7th kyu (yellow belt) for Aikido. I've just gone over all weapons katas, wazas along with basic motions and break falls. However, they could be better as with all things! What might throw a wrench in my test is the basic dojo ettiquette. That is where I am weak...I best no dwell on this too much. Wish me luck!

Remember...bow to O-Sensei, then your Sensei, then your partner in the beginning. Opposite order at the end.
BTW, which school are you in? I'm learning Chiba-Sensei's school of Aikikai, though I can't take any more until August (also taking Grand Master Choe's school of Tae Kwon Do, since my sensei's Aikido dojo is closed until August or September).

Why isn’t that ever an issue of politics? Because you don’t live in a democracy. You live in a plutocracy. Money rules.

As the senior most junior I have to do the bow in and bow out. After that is done we place our weapons on the ground in the correct fashion with blades facing away from Sensei. The Dark wrote:Remember...bow to O-Sensei, then your Sensei, then your partner in the beginning. Opposite order at the end.

I was shown the proper protocol for the test but it left my head spinning! This is Yoshinkan testing protocol and I'm not sure how the Aikikai people handle it!
On an unrelated note, there's going to be a seminar close to Toronto that will feature Gozo Shioda's son. Could be interesting!
