John McCain is talking about cutting defense spending.
Many thanks! These darned computers always screw me up. I calculated my first death-toll using a hand-cranked adding machine (we actually calculated the average mortality in each city block individually). Ah, those were the days.

Wrong answer from both candidates on "what needs to be cut if the $700 billion bill gets passed?"
The correct answer is "there will be NO $700B bailout!"

On the other hand, Obama is making a good point about spending issues. You don't blanket ban raises on all programmes. You select those that need funding more in the future and keep them on the tab, but cut those that are obviously pork.

That's what it sounded like but it must just be a poor choice of words.

One of the few things I actually agree with McCaine on is his position on nuclear power. And since when do these Republicans worry about climate change? Sarah Palin sure as hell doesn't.
Pretty low key so far by both candidates. Jab, parry, jab, parry...
Answers are a bit long winded by both guys so far, nothing too sharp and concise yet. Its a bit annoying that McCain keeps going back to ear mark reform.

What exactly is that supposed to mean? Am I misunderstanding or does he mean that "I'm not exactly winning any popularity contests" or something to that effect?

It's pretty much what he's saying. That he's not the "best liked" guy, it goes with his maverick schtick I guess.

If only he hadn't put that lipstick on the pig instead.

I understood Miss Congeniality to mean 2nd place, or in his example 2nd favorite, which doesn't seem to make sense.

McCain harping on the story of soldiers staying and hinting that if we do not do what the GOP says our kids will have to fight... Gah! Fear monger.
