If I lived in the Washington D.C. area I might have some options for a government job with the degree I have, plus being a veteran, but the only "civilian" government jobs in Arizona involve me joining the Air Force reserve which kind of defeats the purpose of being out of the military.weemadando wrote:Well, with the majors I'm doing I'm aiming to get a graduate position with DFAT or another government branch.Tsyroc wrote:BA in History with a minor in the Humanities from the University of Arizona.
I'd like to reiterate what Stravo said about there being no jobs for history majors because there aren't many. Insurance companies like people with liberal arts degrees but it's almost impossible to find anything in history other than teaching.
If nothing else, its a guaranteed position for 4 years with good pay.
There are non-teaching jobs available for history majors it's just that there aren't many and there's a lot of competition for the ones that open up.
Actually, if I wanted to be a Border Patrol agent they have tons of openings plus I'd get 6 years seniority off the bat. Unfortunately I don't really want a job where I carry a side-arm. Besides that my Spanish sucks.
