I tune out and come back in, and it seems like she's using the same buzzword-laden, pre-recorded mishmash of flag-waving rah-rah cheerleader crap (mixing up the order a bit each time) to avoid answering any question.
Yeah, I'll turn away from the TV for a bit and all I hear from her is something incoherent like "Reagan freedom energy independance taxes maverick white flag taxes."

Wait wait wait what? Tell me Katie, how did she not embarrass herself?

Biden had the superior debate BUT I'm not sure that it will be that noticeable in the aftermath. Expectations for her were so fucking low that it would have been near impossible for her not to exceed them. So yeah she did ok...for the sub-floor expectation that McCain's working the refs set.

I'm so disgusted with Palin right now.

Who the fuck is dumb enough to vote for this piece of shit and her old man puppet master?

This debate was so much better than the first debate between Obama and Mccain. I also love how Biden walked over to Palin's family and shook their hands.

Larry Kudlow on CNBC is already saying she won. Oh wait, now he just said she'll at least get a tie. Of course, he also said we're not in a recession a month ago.

Been switching between the VP debate and the Canadian debate.

If the VP debate had been like the Canadian one, where they argue and respond directly to comments and such, Palin would've completely been slaughtered.

Is it common in an election for a VP debate to be more influential than a Presidential one? I mean, we all saw that debate, it was just a summary of the headlines that we've all heard before. This debate I think brought a good deal to light about the VP's personalities and policies.

As an addendum to what I said earlier the pundit wisdom after the Obama/McCain debate was a wash and the polls ended up showing a decisive Obama win so I think the punditry will, as with pretty much everything else, be about useless here.

Yep, she's got a pulse at the end of the evening, so it's a draw. That's what I'm getting from the punditocracy. If anything, Brokaw's saying she won.

This wasn't a debate. This was a massacre, I love Joe Biden right now

By the way, if anyone is interested you can vote on cnn's home page on who won the debate.

Geraldine Ferraro is the surrogate on NBC. She's talking up Sarah Palin. Who the fuck made that call?

After seeing Palin get thouroughly demolished in this debate, is anyone else as utterly terrified as I am that this crazy retard bitch is so close to the most powerful office in the country?

They just made a fool of Kudlow on CNBC. The big segment he touted as a victory for Palin, the general's name she brought up, was incorrect. It was McKiernan not McClellan.

I'm actually more fearful that because many here fear that she was demonlished, that somehow the polls will show the reverse. Last week's Obama/McCain debate had a surprising fear of McCain holding his own by many, and when the polls came out, it was quite a different story. I can't possibly see how someone would think she did well, but then 30% of the public still supports Bush.

Excellent.

Nice to see the dumb bitch get so thoroughly manhandled. I've an image of Gimpy trying desperately to resist the urge to rip out what remains of his hair in frustration.

See, that is the kind of shit i'm talking about. It's like watching her pathetic performance in this debate has truly opened my eyes to how utterly wrong of a leader she would be for America.

You have to remember 2 things.

1) a landslide is not in the media's best interests. close elections bring better ratings
2) americans are largely idiots.

That will explain any particular spin and subsequent bump in the polls

WOAH...

Anyone else watch the immediate post-debate Fox News coverage? (I watch fox explicitly to hear these opinions) I watched as long as it took them to ask an 'undecided crowd' at Anheuser-Busch (yes, the beer company) that's supposedly were, as I said, all undecided going INTO the debate and 'split evenly' in voting for Bush / Kerry in 04.

The guy running this segment of the debate coverage asked the crowd explicity 'did Palin do better than EXPECTED?'
Overwhelming yes.

So not only YES, was the bar lowered inordinately for her, but even worse, that she exceeded this deplorably low threshold of knowledge / competence is seen as a positive, that she won the debate!

I hope that was staged; it was like something out of the Twilight Zone.
