Clone Wars series (SPOILERS)
Starting this now, since there's some sneak peeks at the series up on youtube and what have you, already.
Doesn't look too shabby, just pass all the fluff talk with the director and sound guy (Grievous) and Tano's voice actress.
Rising Malevolence
Obi-Wan vs. Grievous

Re: Clone Wars series (SPOILERS)
is it just me or does Ashoka's VA sound more annoying as herself then as the character?
I may be an idiot, but I'm a tolerated idiot

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed. She's only peppy for the premiere, I hope.
Re: Clone Wars series (SPOILERS)
I still have a problem with the animation. I think it's way too jerky and not enough activity going on. That run of Obi-Wan's was really static. I know they're probably trying to work fast, but it's really not that hard. I find this especially frustrating because it's so hard for me to find a job in animation, and I know what they're doing for this show isn't above my level. Blech.

Re: Clone Wars series (SPOILERS)
The Wookiepedia article (grain of salt alert) said that George Lucas used the art style he did on purpose for the new series; the intent is to hearken back to the old days of the marionette-puppet series such as Thunderbirds. I do recall that, among the old 1930's-1940's adventure serials at matinees he's cited as inspirations before, mention has also been given to marionette shows that were on TV in the 1950's, IIRC.
Odd, but I believe at least one or two of the more successful marionette series were made by Gerry Anderson, who went on to make UFO and then Space: 1999... and GL was influenced by Space: 1999 to the extent that he realized he'd made Han Solo's original starship (what became the "Blockade Runner") looked too much like the "Eagle" transporter from Space: 1999.
Hmmm... Gerry Anderson, the secret inspiration behind many things "Star Wars". Heh.

Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!
Grrr! Fight my Brute, you pansy!

Re: Clone Wars series (SPOILERS)
I've heard that, pretty cool.
Here's another clip, apparantly from a press kit. At the end, there's a fun clip showing some droid banter (no, not those two droids).

Start with the Quintillions mentioned in "Lord of War" and work down, don't start with Travisstey's minimalist crap and work up!

Re: Clone Wars series (SPOILERS)
100 to 1 is better odds that Traviss pulled out, isn't it? IIRC she was spouting off some nonsense about 1000 to 1 odds.
EDIT: Granted, 100 to 1 is still silly, but it's remarkably more workable.

Re: Clone Wars series (SPOILERS)
well clone are bound to be out numbered and GAR seems to have better battlefield support and IIRC the Republic fleet is superior to the CIS fleet.

Re: Clone Wars series (SPOILERS)
In the DH comic Shipyards of Doom, it's said the CIS navy outranks the Republic navy 4 to 1. Basically, the Republic have fewer soldiers and ships, but more quality overall.
Re: Clone Wars series (SPOILERS)
Holonet News returns, in MP3 form. It's a bit cheezy, but adds to the feel of urgency with regards to the Malevolence threat.
Saxtonites, beware, this is pretty scathing, but funny. It's like they're parodying SDN discussions.

"8! 12! 17!"
I would be interested to see if they do a CIS Shadowfeed.

I like how the Skakoan expert just drones out facts in the background.
Also, since he's part of the Techno Union, I assume not all factions of it are automatically part of the CIS.

Re: Clone Wars series (SPOILERS)
The science panel reminds me of the Monty Python interview format.
And I agree. 8, 12, 17! Is hilarious.
I also like the 'focused laser to scorch an entire planet's crust' bit. Especially with the coughing in response. Nice nod to the DS.

Who is surprised. Its Pablo Hidalgo, who has regularly used his position to fling turds at the analyst fans.

I thought it was well-done and more tactful than other stuff I've heard/read/seen.

Re: Clone Wars series (SPOILERS)
Its not a bare-faced smearfest, but I'm also not surprised this is where Hidalgo ended up going.

Re: Clone Wars series (SPOILERS)
I was only aware of a few instances, such as ridiculing Saxton's methodology by asking why he does not analyse the intro text as an astrophysical phenomenon. What are the others?Illuminatus Primus wrote:Who is surprised. Its Pablo Hidalgo, who has regularly used his position to fling turds at the analyst fans.
"But there's no story past Episode VI, there's just no story. It's a certain story about Anakin Skywalker and once Anakin Skywalker dies, that's kind of the end of the story. There is no story about Luke Skywalker, I mean apart from the books."

Holy shit, that audio feed is fucking awesome I'm putting it on my iPod. I like the reference to the superlaser (and the audience laughing). Hypermatter!!!

C, I reckon.
Re: Clone Wars series (SPOILERS)
Totally agreed, I don't know why they didn't build a library of motion captured animation, even if it's just for mobile actions: running, walking, etc..Covenant wrote:I still have a problem with the animation.
