About the TF2 title

Post by Ender »

linka
Michael Bay has already promised there will be all sorts of new robot characters in the new Transformers movie, but what you probably didn’t know is that the title is a direct reference to one of them.

The full title of the film is Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen. Apparently, that does not refer to the Decepticons getting revenge on the Autobots for kicking their ass in the first film. According to TFW “The Fallen” refers to a specific character.

The Transformers universe does already contain a robot named “The Fallen”. He appeared in some of the Transformers comic books, one of the thirteen original Transformers. He’s also not a very nice dude, and in the comics he escapes from his prison puts together an army, forcing the Autobots and the Decepticons to team up in order to fight him. If that’s the route Michael Bay is going, that could mean we’ll see Megatron and Optimus Prime fighting side by side in Transformers 2.

I do believe I called it. If it's the same Fallen, Bay might be straying from his "no Primus/Unicron" rule; of course, he's free to redesign the character any way he sees fit.

Then again, this is Bay, I doubt he can resist putting a giant burning tank into his movie.

Megs is coming back as a tank, supposedly, and we're going to get Devastator as a combiner gestalt. With no need to establish the main cast, you can get right into the action that way (not that Blackout's opening SOCCENT base attack wasn't awesome anyway).

They have also said that it's going to focus more on the robots, but whether that means more robots fighting or more robot character development we'll need to see.

Incidently, I'm feeling a bit caucious about the whole "Meg and Prime team up" idea. In the middle of ten times more explosions, just how are you going to tell that shit?

"hey prime wazzup theres this fallen dude and hes gonna kick our asses wanna help?"

Uh, notice how that's actually the summary of the events in the comic book that The Fallen appeared in, and that it's in no way confirmed to be the movie's plot.

Coolest moment in the first film, however, is simple:-

I am ..... [flail comes out] MEGATRON.

Are you sure he's coming back? It wouldn't be Transformers without Megatron.

Inserting l33t speak into a caricature of a potential plot really isn't an effective criticism. I don't know why this "[blank] lol" trend that started whenever is supposed to be considered incisive. It's not.

You're right. I guess I just feel that given the virutally non-existant fleshing out of Prime and Megatron's relationship in the first movie, there wouldn't be much time to give a decent reason to team up, what with all the Bayhem and all. I just don't feel that given the "spices of plot/ lots of exploding giant robots" formula, the alliance wouldn't be very convincing.

On the other hand, it would offer a plot with Meg's and Prime's relationship as one of the highlights, offering an opportunity to greatly expand their relationship.

Personally I was more impartial to that waaay too short "evul banter" between Megs and Starscream.

"I live to serve you Lord Megatron!" Which to mean was probably the most "Transformers" moment in the movie. I hear some guys saying the Decepticons might actually have some dialouge this time around.

Awesome. I like Megatron as a Cybertronian Tank, more than his Cybertronian Jet form.

Awesome. I can't wait to see them form the gestalt. Individually, they'll make a pretty mess of anything in their way (imagine the firepower they can wield with their size given they're far bigger than even Prime or Megs).
