Likely. And I doubt the CSR has the problem that modern Russia has with kidnappers who take pretty girls and ship them overseas for forced prostitution.

On the CVN thing, obviously our countries know how to build the things, since we, you know, do build the things. Or are we back to the "because the players don't know the insides and outsides of something, our countries are therefore filled with bumbling idiots" crap? Or does that only apply to the MESS?

I build my carriers with the goal of a new one every four years. If that means there's more going on in the background because that's how things work, then there's more going on in the background. Sorry if I am not an expert in CVN construction. Luckily, I have people in my country who are.

I don't know what Canissia, Tian Xia, the Old Dominion or Byzantium do with their fleets. Wilkonia builds hers with me so there you go. I take my 'phibs from him so one could assume that where he might otherwise be building CVNs he's instead building LHDs, LSDs, LPDs, etc.

As far as losses incurred, keeping in mind the MESS is not some super state, you have to look at that on a nation-by-nation basis. So the ODN is rebuilding theirs, Serenity seems content to wait for the joint CVA-04 project with Cascadia, and Wilkonia isn't that concerned since they went carrier heavy in the first place.

As far as international joint projects go, you can say the same thing any time the SNC or FTO have one of theirs going on. Or is this again something that only comes into play when it affects the MESS in a negative way? Or maybe our countries have figured out a way to do it with some rising costs but not an entire boondoggle? This game is hardly 100% realism (except when someone wants it to be to screw somebody else) so unless everybody wants to get super anal retentive because we can just live with some of it?
Stas Bush wrote:I'd expect you to be more fair. Japanistan has not fired a single shot during the war with Shep. That's not "alliance" - that's more like economic and military help, but still - it's a proxy war not a direct war.
If not an alliance than what? A Japanistan puppet state? A useful proxy for when Japanistan wants to say "screw you" to the world without getting their hands dirty?

Whatever you do or do not want to call their relationship, either way I think it'd be fair to say that when it comes to Shepistan, Japanistan is not a neutral entity. Alliance, proxy, puppet, whatever.

You guys still haven't figured it out?

They're using Shepistan as a sponge, since Shep seems content to pick fights with Lonestar, and every CVN sunk and aircraft downed by Shepistan is one less available to threaten Japanistan.

At the same time, they're keeping them at arm's length, having a "treaty of eternal friendship", but stopping short of calling it an alliance.

That is true. But at least he maintained legal neutrality, unlike last time when he formally joined into a single nation with Shep.

Oh sure, we knew that. Though I think the way it was put is that Shepistan is Skimmer's "attack dog".

But all that aside, anyone saying Japanistan is neutral WRT Shepistan is just lying or very deluded. Hence that whole "we ignored the Japanistan ceasefire" thing during the One Week War. And probably why we'd consider them something very close to one entity, even if we wouldn't attack Japanistan over something Shepistan does.

Though if all their resupply in some theoretical future conflict happens to come from the direction of Japanistan, we wouldn't be at all surprised. :P

So, Japanistan is like Michael Vick, and Shepistan is like Rover the Beat-Angry Pitbull. Without lipstick.

What I find odd is the bizarre hard-on they have for fucking with the MESS in general. Very little has been done against other states (the cable-cutting incident) but when it comes to the MESS players, they get that eyes-glazed Rage Virus look and start foaming at the mouth. Even when it is demonstrated that, when left alone, the MESS pretty much is isolationist there's still that insistence to provoke.

Why? I mean, a proposed biopen that may or may not be buildable is peanuts compared to, say, a 90-ton sooper-uber tank -- which could, conceivably, actually be built with today's technolgy but... for some odd reason, isn't considered worth the cost & effort.

I think the gist of the argument is that the BioPen is impossible with current technology, not just something highly improbable for most states save hypermilitaristic ones.

I also have to say that I am now in work a hell of a lot more than I have been recently, and that is definitely going to cut into my online time in the future.
