And if so, how much? I obviously can't force you to say, so say so if you're comfortable.
To answer my own poll, I've donated $150 to Obama's presidential campaign, because although a straight-Democratic government might not be the best thing for some modernization projects for the military, to include ABM, they're hardly anti-military and I'm no single-issue voter and besides, Obama voted for, and McCain against, the G.I. Bill for the 21st Century. Anyway, infrastructure, energy, social issues, foreign policy and the handling of the economy are all things the President handles, among many, many more and represent just a sample with which I happen to vastly agree more with Obama, than McCain.
For a time, I'd say I fell into the "vote for McCain to split the government" camp, on grounds that less government is sometimes better government ... but the position looked worse and worse, the more I actually learned about the guy. I'm not gonna argue the point because I've reneged on it and no longer subscribe to it, although if someone wants to say just why that's so dumb, I'm more than willing to listen. I learned a lot about Obama up-front, mostly thanks to this forum (rather the opposite than the American mainstream, now that I think about it) and only learned about McCain's military, personal, and political career, as the presidential race dragged on and became increasingly appalled.

Donated a total of $400-$500, though it has been spread out in $50 to $100 increments starting during the primary season.
Re: Political Donations by SDN Members
Donated 50$ to Obama, Already voted for Obama, have donated time and my apartment to the Obama campaign and had people using my place as a canvasing rest stop to pick up spare papers, pens and paperwork.

My money is going toward my son, so I'm not donating to anyone.

A few weeks ago I donated $25 to Obama. I've also shown my support by voting for Obama in the California primary, and by voting for him again in the general.

I wish I could spare some cash to donate to Obama, but I'm a student and my monthly income is less than $200. I think/hope my parents have.
It seems like he's pretty well set, anyway. I'm in awe that so many people giving a little bit has made such a difference.

Re: Political Donations by SDN Members
I've plopped $150 down for Obama in $25 increments since the primary (usually buying in to the "match a first timer donation" program). I'm also volunteering for the election day GOTV effort since I'm far too socially akward to do canvassaing or phone banking but I figure at least one day is the least I can do.

I'm mostly broke, but since I'm a union member in good standing I tend to fund a few campaigns, some of which I personally disagree with.

I give my time. I've been working the democratic campaigns all fall. Fliers, registering people, signs, canvassing, driving to polls for early voting, etc, we do the works. This week I'm supposed to pass out "Protect yourself from John McCain" condoms in a suit and McCain mask.

I've donated about $75 or so altogether. I'd volunteer time but my hours are pretty fixed, and since I don't drive it's a tad more difficult to get around town to anywhere on short notice given how erratic the buses can be around here.

Yeah. At this late stage in the game, I'd urge anyone interested in contributing to donate their time, rather than their cash, which Obama is awash in. I fear that a feeling of 'inevitability' may settle over some of his supporters, and I'd hate for him to lose this election by half a percentage point because some of his volunteers decided to slack off.Ender wrote:Money's easy. Re: Political Donations by SDN Members
Something you could do in lieu of physically contributing would be making calls to a swing state. That's probably the lynchpin of the GOTV strategy this go-around, and would probably be more helpful than canvassing your local neighborhood.General Zod wrote:I've donated about $75 or so altogether. I haven't been able to donate cash, but does taking a weekend to head to another state and help canvas neighborhoods and spread information on Obama's campaign count?

I refuse to work in any kind of phone based job, and I dislike using the phone in general unless I absolutely have to to the point of irrationality, so that's pretty much out of the question.ArcturusMengsk wrote: Something you could do in lieu of physically contributing would be making calls to a swing state. Re: Political Donations by SDN Members
I've donated $50 to the Obama campaign, and a little bit of my time (I've been to Obama events here in Utah). I haven't done phone banks, though (I generally dislike doing them), and in order for pro-Obama volunteerism to really mean something here in Utah you either have to do that, donate money, or go as part of a group to Colorado next door to do canvassing and the like. I almost did that for Nevada back in the primaries, but couldn't find the time.

I donated $10 to Obama, knowing that my donation would be doubled.
Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. Re: Political Donations by SDN Members
Donated 40$, did canvassing once which was a disaster (I'm horribly horribly inept w/ dealing w/ people, so phonebanking won't do either).

If I were American, I'd be donating, and possibly working for, the Obama campaign.
However, since i'm not (shrugs).

I've been asked why I still follow a few of the people I know on Facebook with 'interesting political habits and view points'.
It's so when they comment on or approve of something, I know what pages to block/what not to vote for.
