Can I begin incorporating THEL into my own OOB? We're partnering in the project after all... Come to think of it: I'd be interested in buying/partnering in the development of those drone interceptors as well!

Hmm...yeah, I spent some 4-5 billion on the things already. How much does it cost to buy and operate an emplacement, anyway?

I don't have th epatience for number-crunching, so I just wave my hand and say "I have X amount emplaced" and try to make it reasonable.

Considering I've completely forgone military procurements for anything except for these programs (and considering that the expensive R&D was already done, it was just a matter of building 'em) I've just been cranking them out, so I'd say my partners in this would easily have a couple dozen by now and enough to secure their capitols and perhaps a couple seaports or important military installations.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

Just started my persona's state visits to Old Continent.

My destinations are Stasograd, Constantinople, Sarajevo, Orena, Neve Tikvah, and Farbanti.

To remind everyone should you seek to post something on it, my attending family consists of my wife Sophia, a 22 year old son named Thomas, and an 11 year old daughter Deirdre.

Hmm.. well, I would point out such a large mount might slow down the reaction times which is crucial to dealing with high speed missiles. Low speed is fine. Though it is true that given the Russian winters, optics and so forth must be well-protected or they will be easily damaged.

I'm steadily deploying THEL batteries along the coast. It will take a while, like ... completing next year, but it will be done.

The next step is deploying an airbourne laser. Some time.... next year or this year.

Just for the record Astarian defoliants in South Velaria were used to remove the forrest cover of the rebells, not to attack their crops (if any). Not that Shepistan would give a damn.

Oh, goddammit!

Didn't Norseman explain a hundred times how slavery works in Astaria? We've made dozens of references to that in our story posts...

The Astarian government is abolitionist!

Trying to topple it will not end slavery, since it's the common, middle class Astarian citizen who wants it to continue, even at the cost of autarky, while the government uses underhanded tricks to abolish it.

What's so bloody hard to understand about this?

And need I remind you how great forcing people to sign horribly crippling treaties injuring national pride worked in the past? Yeah. Great idea.

*shrug* At this point I'm apathetic. As I told the ambassador, this cannot be solved by arms.

And well, it seems the hatred has transcended beyond mere... slavery.

To be pretty damn fair: I don't care about Norseman's island falling into autarky, suffering war with any other parties, Shepistan, OD, or Cascadia. The CSR doesn't even recognize Astaria.

What I want is - since Norseman implied my clientelle insurgents are somehwere in Veleria - to expunge Astaria from Veleria.

Now that Astaria itself has massively secluded itself, their Velerian colony can be liberated. It's NOT inhabited with Astarians so eager to "support" slavery, and apparently Astaria subjugated several other lawless regions to their dominion.

This is the situation I am trying to turn to my favour. Having a foothold in Veleria is what I need. The kitbashed coalition of Shep, Lonestar and Steve is nothing more than a ready source of humans which could further my goals without endangering crimson citizens needlessly.

For what it's worth, Cascadia is aware of the situation and that's why we're counseling restraint. Keep the pressure up with covert action in the rest of the inherently unstable Velerian alliance so that the Astarian government needn't worry about the danger seeming to pass and undoing public support for their initiative while other states - PeZookia and Byzantium - lead the diplomatic effort (and we would be doing things like joining international efforts at giving economic aid to Astaria in exchange for their staying the new course).

Unfortunately, Byzantium has suspicions of Shepistan involvement, and that we suspect a loose cannon has been unleashed. We would be thus reluctant to get entangled with the problem. The past game of a nuke flying and destroying a SAM site plus a city has a huge collateral damage still simmers.

Essentially this: Unless the conspirators involved in this nonsense come clean, Byzantium will not be a pawn or some chess piece in this great game of realpolitik and get its damn ass fried by accident.

Gotta go somewhere now, but remember this: Indentured servants have rights, they cannot be enslaved (dating back to the 1820s when enslavement due to religious causes was banned). Unless Astaria brings in several million more slaves, and you might well ask "From where?" There's just no way to rescue the institution anymore, it is gone.

*sighs*
Okay, I'm growing bored by the need to interact about Astaria. Now that their ships are sunk I want to forget about them.

Just let's say I gave Hugo Shroomvez a full T-80 tank brigade from my reserve army stock, with point-defense Buk-MB vehicles and some S-300-PMU2 SAMs, and some Msta-S artillery. Lots of Hinds and some Su-37s (I wanted to retire them anyway). Let his mission in Veleria prove itself.

You know I've been thinking...

A lot of Border State people were probably sold into slavery during the rule of it's former dictators(Marek, Karic,...). Now that these countries are part of the USSR, their citizens are now citizens of the USSR.

Can you see where I'm going with this? :D

I could use this fact to complicate things...or not.
